question about auto insurance after accident
hello all,
i have ameriprise auto insurance for a few years now. i got rear ended about six months ago in our 06 honda odyssey and they had their estimator provide an estimate for the claim.
they provided me with a check and of course, they missed the rear door latch that had to be replaced. anyhow, a local body shop in dublin took care of the damage and they asked and got the additional money necessary for the full repair.
a month after i got my car fixed, they send me a form called the certified mechanics statement form and asked that i take it to a certified mechanic to get it signed off.
my question is: if ameriprise took care of it and we signed paperwork that the car was operational, shouldn't this be enough? I couldn't understand why i have to take it to a certified mechanic to get it signed off.
btw, the shop that i went to deals with ameriprise all the time and they are one of the insurance that they have referral from.
is this normal procedure or is the insurance company messing with me?
thanks in advance.
