1# Vehical Mechanical Inspections do not apply to what you are all *****ing about.
2# Go to any trucker and ask him about DOT inspections and ask about a red tag sale.
3# You are subject to a Mechanical inspection any time your car touches a california road.

If you cant prove your car is safe and legal to be on the road ways. They can tow your car untill its proven. Just like on the ref tcket. Dont drive till inspected.
Your cabin and trunk are storage and have nothing to do with the hood. So them asking to pop the hood is legal under mechanical inspections.

Like I said.... Let me know when you all want to change things and make this stuff illegal. Untill you act ... just grin and bare it.

-judge asks me a few questions and tells you the final total of what you have to pay and stuff.
-step off the stand and sign some paper judge fills out with fine info and leave court room.
-go to the window where i pay the fine and pay the fine.
-leave and hope you never have to go back.
Thanks that is much more clear. That sounds like only one day trial deal. It seems to be treated differently than speeding ticket. My understanding for speeding ticket is that if you plead not guilty at the one day trial, all judge does is give a court day when the ticketing officer is scheduled to show up.

yeah. it was a one day thing, unlike speeding tickets where you plead guilty or not guilty and judge sets another court day for you to fight it. fines are set on the spot and paid the same day for the mod emissions thing.

I'm asking this because I am in a similar situation. I passed the smog test at the state ref.
If I'm hearing you right, all I would have to do is go to the front desk at the court and show the paper work from state ref and pay 10 dollar fee to clear this ticket - and don't have to meet up with a judge to clear this?
Thanks in advance. I think everyone will benefit from your answer since many are falling into a same situation.
-Well first you have to go to the court house an talk to the clerk. and you set up a date to see the judge.
-on your court day you will notice it is with a large group of people all waiting to get in the court room
-once everyone gets in the court room they go through some formalities and then they will proceed with the cases in alphabetical order.
-the judge will call your name, and you can step up to the mic, then he/she will name your charges.
-tell them you have proof of compliance
-they will look at it and tell you to pay the 10 dollar dismissal fee

I'm surprised SEMA hasn't opened investigation into the uprise of CA referee tickets. The entire aftermarket industry is being threatened here, and for what it's worth, our personal freedoms.

I'll look into getting a petition to send to SEMA, they have major clout and are the best bet to get something done. I'm was getting my swap refereed today and the guy running the station was way swamped with appointments. whackness.

Well, I've done a lot of research and decided to plead not guilting via Trial by Written Declaration. In this process, the officer and I will both produce written statements/evidence and the judge will decide and rule. If the officer does not respond, the case is dismissed. If I lose the case I can still have a Trial De Novo and pay the fine or go back to stock and see the ref.
