I got General G-Max AS-03 in 225/50ZR16 for my 16x6.5 stockers. I currently have 215/65R16 off-road Grabber AT 2s on there right now. The 225/50/16 matches stock size identically diameter wise and many have done it on Nasioc, clubwrx, rs25 etc. Some people don't like having a wider tire because it's not a stretched look but I want more rubber on the ground and those who I've seen or talked to that did it have had no problems at all - I actually like how it looks better and for an exact stock diameter match and being 7.5lbs lighter per wheel than my current setup, how could I not? I will post pix when they are installed. I may be throwing on my Swift Sport springs too instead of my stocker springs

Ah, G-Max will be fine. Tire Rack even lists a 6.5" as the measured rim width.

I've gotten used to looking at the Extreme Performance tires that run so wide that they recommend a 8" wide rim for a 225/50/16.

yea I guess that would be ideal for a stretched wheel/tire setup... I personally like more meat on my car than not... I don't auto cross it EVER and i dd the car with an occasional trip to the snow and off-road. I wanted something with plenty of body, good handling tire, grippy, tame and snow-able so it think i found a decent match

I'm not talking about stretch. 225 on 8" can look like this.

The point I was getting at is that not all tires are the same size even if they are marked the same size. A summer tire can be considerably wider than an all season tire.

Now that I know what tire you got and why, it should not only fit your wheel well, but also fit your needs well.
