I'm gonna spitball here & guess he wasn't code 3 reporting to duty, he was hooning. Nice to know LEO's that are engaging in such behavior literally down the street where my mom walks her dog. Oh and he'll still get the pagentry of a hero's funeral, awesome!
Hold on a minute. i dont think any one is disputing that he was on duty at the time. Maybe it was a traffic accident. Maybe street racers caused him to crash. Were you there, do you know the whole story.

And how many times have you gone "spirited driving"?

I love how everyone bashes on street racing but the second they hit the mountains (Full of bicycle riders and trucks trailing boats) they instantly think they are race cars and its not illegal to drive that fast.

Speak for yourself. I don't exceed the capabilities of my vehicle, even when driving in a spirited manner. Even on the back roads I do have a set limit, and understand that if I'm not in complete control of my vehicle, I need to slow down to maintain COMPLETE control of the vehicle. I expect to find a bicycle rider around each corner until proven otherwise.

I know you do roo, all of us have driven like idiots at one point or another.

Id like to know the whole story before i pass judgement.

And i would like to point out... anyone can be in complete control of their vehicle until some outside factor throws a twist...

Sand
Gravel
Dirt
Tar Snakes
Deer
Pedestrians
Drunk Drivers

Trust me, ive driven my car like a MORON on the backroads. Im sure many of you can attest to that and i am NO SAINT at all. But its hard to pass judgement when we werent there, we dont know the story, and the only snippit we have says he was racing a possible nissan sentra? Seems a little vauge for me to make generalizations about the accident.

On that note, anyone wanna go for a drive through berryessa =)

And please dont refer to me as officer, were equals and i expect to be treated as such. This isnt a law enforcement forum its a subaru forum.

Maybe street racers made him press down his accelerator and go fast enough to lose control and completely disfigure ~3400lbs of metal, plastic and glass around a power pole? What now?

Who "hits the mountains and instantly think they are race cars and it's not illegal to drive fast"?? Do you do this? I keep my "spirited driving" on race tracks.

Point is, being TRULY in control means allowing yourself outs and options. I was taught to drive as a kid on back roads and to ALWAYS assume there is someone in your lane coming around a corner. You have to be MOOOOOOVIN to wrap a car around a pole like that. Part of driving on public roads is the "twists" that you are thrown and being able to safely handle them. IMHO, one person accidents (car hits solid, non moving object) are usually ultimately the driver's fault no matter how many street racers or ghost deer are out there.

Listen, If he was street racing hes an idiot. no denying that.

But maybe he fell asleep at the wheel. Maybe he was forced off the road by street racers. We dont know the story behind it. its unfair to comment.

Like i said. If he was street racing.... Hes a moron.

Now if you dont agree with the second statement, Go on a drive with some fellow owners (and not close friends).

Its for that reason alone, i dont go on subaru drives any more. It just gets out of hand. Each large drive ive been on, somebody gets into a preventable wreck.

I agree, of course all I can make is a "Knowledge Free" assessment of the situation. I am sure you have seen your share of car wrecks - just had to be moving at a high speed to manipulate the car like that and there is only one person in control of the SPEED of the car - the driver. The direction of the car could have been affected by an external force of course. But yes, nearly anything could have happened there.

I hear ya on the drives.
