Passing where legal

So I passed 5 cars, who were tightly packed going below the speed limit of 45mph on a 2 lane rd this morning on my way to work.

Now, granted, there was no oncoming cars and we are talking about a very long straight road with excellent visibility.

To pass all of them at once, I went about 75mph. I think. I wasn't looking at the speedo, I wanted to be sure I just got around all of them.

At the stop like like a mile later the 2nd car I think was honking and yelling at me. I didn't notice at first since I was just car watching at the light and I had music playing in my earbuds, but I think I saw someone waving their arm next to me. Anyways, light turned green so I kept going, they made a right.

I'm an *******, I suppose, since I passed in a legal passing area, but for having done so in the most efficient manner?

Thoughts?

I think the general public is just so terrified and unskilled at driving that someone passing at high speed (to them) just shocks them.

Sounds like a personal problem to me. I really don't care that I scared someone... But I'm a bit peeved that are pissed cause, well, they can't handle it.

I'm sure they think I'm unsafe. Well, I think THEY are unsafe. my .02

I've done it before too. SO WHAT if tard who was in the middle of the pack is upset. Passing lane and clear other side = you were legal. I got honked at for passing on a mountain road even though the moron would not use the turn outs. There were only 4 of us stacked up behind, but I passed all of them. Yes, sheep are unsafe. That's what they are - they just follow the one in front and live their lives like that.

My other thought is, it is illegal to have two earbuds in, so tell me you only had one in.

Maybe they were waving and yelling "You're car is amazing, I love it. Have a great day!" Haha

I don't think going fast when passing is idiotic, sure it can be if done unsafely but if you do it in a safe place going fast makes it safer.

+1 on the earbuds

I passed half that many cars, not a curve, and much more quickly.

That guy has a death wish lol

I frequently pass on that section of that road, but that's ridiculous.

I didn't

It's what came with the phone, so it's how I use it. I hear sirens easy. But the weak honk of a honda element (i think), not so much

if there was an oncoming car, he'd have no choice but to quickly cut off somebody in our caravan that was a long left turn and he was moving pretty good
