Well all of the other Bay Area ones only install and sell products with CARB Exemption numbers and they refuse to reprogram peoples' ECUs, cuz that's illegal, and they would never touch a car with modifications that weren't street legal and was a street car... so I guess all of them are squeaky clean. I forgot that the cars they tune and modify every day all day are strictly track only! Oh yeah. Good thing none of them import or sell JDM parts or things like bumper beams and brakes that aren't DOT legal.
Good thing none of them say, "now go do a hot lap and make sure the car feels great" after they tune it.... or drive it all insane themselves on the streets around the shop. Nobody does that, either.

If Ed is refusing to give you the time of day and answer on here, why on earth would you assume he would tell you over the phone? He probably sent you on a wild goose chase to waste more of your time. Call ten times and I bet you'll get ten different cities

quote me the law where it states ecu reflashing is illegal..
mmkkkkaay thanks
and ever read the disclaimers shops make you sign?
Right it is legal as the liability rests on the cars owner with those nifty waivers...

Okay, tax and business laws.
Good thing there aren't dozens of shops in the Bay Area that charge significantly less if you pay cash because they don't report it on taxes.
Good thing a business laws don't have anything to say about a licensed business doing illegal activity like I mentioned in the post above. Illegal is illegal. Putting catless cars on public roadways is not a small offense. Putting HUNDREDS of them on public roadways after soliciting and selling the parts and tuning the ECU's is not exactly jay walking here...

what happens to the cars after they leave the tunning shops is not the responsiblity of the shop. It is not the shops responsibility to inform there customers weather or not the parts or the modifications in which they are applying are CARB Exempt, though most shops do along with most vendors of the product (hence read the information givin with the product).

transfering of liability to the consumer IS NOT ILLEGAL..
again show me the laws that state ecu reflashes or recalibration of any auto part is illegal.
Put up or shut up..
and you better damn well know that when it comes to the states money or the feds money they will come after you with a vengence..

Yeah not like i posted it either.. and it was 10pm my time which was 7pm your time.. did i mention i handed out his cell number to a few people to call him up and ask him for his buisness license as well
hey it is public information after all.....
figure the more people that ask the more likely he is to answer the 20 dollar question
what i find amusing is that he verified what he had told another memeber a while back.. That he had his **** located in danville.. so again as it stands no one but ed can confirm or deny what i have said and found to date..

CARB had a big part in putting the codes on the new (05+) ECU's that are supposed to show if the ECU has been tampered with. Anything that changes or potentially changes the emissions on the car in CA has to go through CARB.... that absolutely includes ECU tuning.

He's in a lake cabin. I made the assumption that there would be no internet.... guess that's based on my lake cabin being "rustic"

so that is the law you are quoting then?
right
do your research man it doesnt take long this is the information age..
show me where it is illegal to reflash an ecu..
Here is a hint IT ISNT (or subaru would be ****ed for reflashing sti ecus when they first came out, or for that matter any sort of ecu that does calibration on the fly could be deemed illegal depening on how you look at it)
damn almost 6am im going to bed later

Turn and face the hunter, turn them into the hunted i say...
