Not that spec series do not strive to be the fastest but when being the fastest on a given weekend your MAYBE a second faster per lap. Not 3 seconds per lap, every lap, and win by 20-30 seconds.
They aren't. I love Rally Racing. I love Super V8.

I don't want F1, which has a history of totally different cars racing each other to become spec. That's all.

True, they're slower than last year, at least for now.

My answer is I only car if the cars go fast. That's all I care about.

Rules for the past 15 years have been designed to slow the cars down. Water down the speed and Performance. Recently, since 09, or so, they've really pushed to kill the aero off the cars.

All this to try to make cars slower and to increase passing. Increase the entertainment.

I'd much rather have open engine designs and go back to aero of 2006/2007. 3.0l NA and 1.5L turbo, do what you want.

Real constructors making their own stuff. What we have now is so much more like a spec series its disgusting.

I want fast cars. And I want to see the team who figures out the best to win a lot. Even of that's not RBR or vettel or kimi. I'd totally respect a 5x WC lewis. Its obvious that most people don't feel the same about vettel or Schumacher.

So vacuum cleaner engines? Whatever. Just drive the **** out of them.
Couldn't agree more. Formula 1 has always strove to the be the pinnacle of motorsport, the lack of aero and ridiculous regulations does irk me a bit.

Crap. It's a night race... So the temps will be cooler. I was thinking of seeing how Mercedes handles high temp track and tire degradation. With these cooler, but warm temps, they are super fast.

Mercedes should really run away this weekend, even in Qualifying.

Lightbulb: The fuel flow meters are in place to keep the power down. There is no other reason for them really. I was expecting these engines to make way more power than the v8s, and didn't understand why they didn't 'til now. Alcohol/Ethanol is what these engines basically run on, and on turbo engines of the 80s they were making 1000hp cars, 1500hp cars for some in Qualifying trim. So basically FIA is keeping the power down by limiting the amount of fuel they can use (and probably boost too).

My guess had FIA did the right thing, you know, made the fuel requirements lax, we'd see faster cars in terms of power. Had they had the aero, we'd see probably the fastest F1 cars ever.

Too bad FIA doesn't get it.

That's what I'm thinking. All of the Mercedes powered teams should do pretty well this weekend.

That's why Riccardo was so fast. I think it would be way more interesting if they let the fuel flow be unrestricted but keep the amount of fuel they can carry. Oh wait, then it'll just end up being 2013 all over again.
