With these kinds of injuries... well, it's possible he'll recover but I doubt it.
Generally if you arrive and you're already in a coma you're in trouble. You arrive and they put you in a coma so they can treat you... chances are much better.
Sucks but the chances of him coming out of this alive are slim and without severe brain damage are even slimmer.

They induced the coma on the way to the hospital because he was having involuntary limb movement, a worse sign than him going into a coma on his own IMO. Even if he recovers, there is no question there is some pretty serious damage already.
Now they are saying someone inadvertently caught the fall on video and they've submitted the footage to the authorities.
