Nicky: If you order now, then you will not lose your unlimited data. Our new plans are rolling out on the 28th so if you order now, you can keep it. It is after that date, that when you upgrade, you will lose it.
You: So even though the phone will not arrive until July sometime, the data plan will be safe?
Nicky: Yes it will. As long as you order before that date, you can keep it.
You: Alright. If I were to order it through Best Buy or Target (or some other retailer) would the preorder work the same as ordering the phone through Verizon? The unlimited data would stay?
Nicky: If you order through a 3rd party company, I cannot guarantee that your plans will stay. Also, if you order through them, you are signing a contract with them and not Verizon directly so you will be subject to their terms, conditions, and fees.
You: Ok makes sense. I know my upgrade date is not till the 25th of this month, is there anyway I can still preorder since I would not even get the phone till after my upgrade date?
Nicky: You cannot preorder until that date.
You: Is that set in stone? I have heard of other friends and family members who weree able to upgrade a couple weeks early just due to being long time customers and renewing their contract.
Nicky: It may offer that to you early but you will need to constantly check the website to see that.
You: Ok. If I were to use my 2 year upgrade, what price would I be looking at after tax for a 16GB SIII?
Nicky: I do not have the after tax information because I do not have access to individual state taxes but that device will be $199.99 before taxes.
You: Alright. Is there an estimated date for when the phone should hit Vz retail stores? If I am not able to preorder until the 25th, I doubt it would be shipped out with the first preorders
Nicky: They will hit the stores the same day the ship.
You: So there is no real advantage of preordering (other than keeping unlimited data)? Preorders will not receive the phone sooner?
Nicky: No they will not but if we do sell out of the phone and you order through the store, then the shipping date can be pushed back for those later orders.
