Yes, the assistant coaches are all respectable in their spots, but don't burry the lead and forget that Harbaugh was replaced by a nobody to bring this team another Superbowl trophy
The positive pin people are trying to put on this is crazier than anything I've seen from the Raiders. Good luck!

I, for one, still find the situation incredibly laughable. It's one thing to fire your staff over consistent losing, it's a totally different thing to fire your best staff in a decade to hire a nobody and pass it off as maintaining consistancy and hiring from within the organization.

Its a laughable situation but its shaping up to be a decent patch job (unless we get Kiffin as OC). Its clear you're one of the Harbaugh sympathizers but I don't understand how you defend a coach who has never had a NFL passing offense rate higher than bottom 15. Whats equally mind boggling is how you can support someone with those stats who's unwilling to replace his cuckold OC. Add to the fact that he also said that being up 10 points would ice the game in the 3rd quarter, turned his hand picked mobile QB to a pocket failure and lost the SB because his OC was unwilling to adjust his gameplan the first half.
Harbaugh checked out last offseason and left us with little option but to give him the walking papers. Do I think Jed/Marathe/Baalke did a ****ty job at finding replacements? yes. Do I think firing the entire staff was stupid? yep. Do I still see a silver lining here and there in a bad bad situation? yep.
I'm not saying we're going to win the Superbowl but with our roster, we should be able to eek by 6-8 wins. The rest will depend on coaching and I think 2-4 games is reasonable. If its a 9 win season, its still a success compared to this one and if the players can get behind Ron Jeremy as our HC, we might still make the postseason.
Dysfunction has been out modus operandi since last season. Nothing new.

I read today: Per @MaioccoCSN, 49ers prez Paraag Marathe will play key role in Jim Tomsula's in-game time management.

How can YOU defend them hiring Tomsula over someone who HAS HC experience?! They could have picked Sparano or Mangini, they didn't. Maybe even Shanahan... They didn't.

The other train of thought is that there were no good offensive HC candidates. Most guys were either OCs that did well because of who their QB was or DCs and failed HCs. No name out there screamed Belichick or Carroll so it was best to get a Yes man, patch up the rest of the coaching spots with cheap guys and wait until a good offensive HC is looking for a job in next couple of years.
I'm not defending their actions but Harbaugh had to be let go and I've been critical of their decision to let Fangio walk. In the end I don't control jack **** and Yorks going to try and pull an Al Davis. So it is what it is. I'd rather look at the glass half full than half empty and wait until next season before deciding to bash their decisions.

Fangio should have been moved up the Head Coach position. Tomsula could have stayed where he was or moved up to a Coordinator position. Then hire someone for the O.C. position (Shanahan, Gase, Doug Marrone, David Shaw, Mark Helfrich, Urban Meyer, whoever).
That would have retained a lot more of the coaching staff that was currently in place.

Yorks solution that made the least amount of sense. If he wants to save his $15 mil, he'll have time to count it while 2 other teams play in the Superbowl at his stadium.

15th ranked offense or not, it's hard to jump off the Harbaugh train after 3 Championship appearances in as many years. And he did that with an Alex Smith who no one could get to accel and then with a running qb no one had ever heard of. Granted, the team had a stellar defense that was able to minimize pressure on the offense, but that DC is gone now too.

Roman couldn't figure out how to draw up screen plays for LMJ, repeatedly called college plays that require YAC to get to the sticks on a 3rd down and was simply predictable in his play calls. Harbaugh did nothing about it and decided that he would rather leave himself instead of firing his terrible OC friend.
I don't understand all this sucking off Harbaugh that a lot of fans/media are doing lately. When he was here it was all complaining and bad articles and now that he's gone, people act like he was Walsh. He took a great roster to the NFCCG and the Superbowl because he got his QB to throw checkdowns and lean on his defense and ST to win games.
Can you give me a good reason why they decided to turn Kap into a pocket passer the first half the Superbowl and all of last season instead of designing rollout plays for him? Can you tell me why they moved on from the Pistol? Mine either

Do you remember who our top scoring player was that year? Akers leg and Gore got us to the NFCCG. Its not jumping off the Harbaugh train. Its just not blindly giving him credit for all the great things that came with his coaching staff. Harbaugh failed miserably at clock management, using timeouts, 2 minute drills and even calling challenges. He was asked to fix up his offense and he thought he could fix it by getting different receivers (while passing on all the Stanford TEs) instead of replacing Roman. Fail. The defense was all Fangio.

However, you can make all those criticisms, valid as tgey are, yet they were at the cusp of making 3 Superbowl appearances straight off the heels of Singletary's bumbling seasons.
Now, do you really care how your team makes it to the NFC Championship? If I had to ride my field goal kicker and stud running back to get there, so be it.
He did aim way too high with Kaep and tried to turn him into Drew Brees. But I don't think Jim was involved in signing Kaep to that ridiculous contract either.
So, even if you don't like "how" Jim got the team as far as they went, you don't wait for him to leave and promote the third Mario brother (Wario?) to take his place and expect any sort of success. If they knew that long that Jim was no longer the man, then Jed did a pathetic job with this fall back plan.

Remember when the Niners were laughable back in the NFC west suck days? Niners will be back at the bottom, plain and simple. I think the Rams grow and the Niners fall.

Yes, his clock management and the time outs were really bad. Especially on the big stage. Sometimes they just made you go "wtf?????".

Give me 3 things that Harbaugh himself had a hand in improving when he was our coach? I can name none.
As far as Kaeps contract goes, I have no idea what you're smoking. Its by far the most team friendly contract in the league. He can be let go any year so essentially he's not guaranteed anything. We pay him for the year and boot him if he doesn't perform. There is a injury clause on the contract but that's pretty standard. Would you rather they gave him Cutlet, Stafford, Romos or Daltons contract?
I'll agree Jed did a bad patch up job. It could've been worse but I guess we'll wait and see if they hire Kiffin as an OC.

1) Alex Smith was useless before Harbaugh. Jim was able to keep Alex from throwing games away and Alex had one of his best seasons that year.
2) Harbaugh brought the power run scheme to SF which Gore thrived under.
3) Brought Fangio in and took a good defense and made it great.

OK, I don't know why you think Jim didn't have a hand in 3 damn good seasons, but from a non-9er fan, here goes...
1) Alex Smith was useless before Harbaugh. Jim was able to keep Alex from throwing games away and Alex had one of his best seasons that year.
2) Harbaugh brought the power run scheme to SF which Gore thrived under.

2) Gores best year was before Harbaugh got here. He's (give or take) had 1000+ yard seasons his entire career with 4ypc+.
3) Credit goes to Fangio, not Harbaugh. Saved his butt at Stanford and continued to save him with us.

1) Even though I think it was normal progression by Alex, I'll give you this one. Harbaugh is a good QB coach and he can have credit for this.

As much as York might have hated Jim, letting him walk and blowing up the staff was likely the worst scenario for the franchise. Just seemed like a very avoidable disaster.

Fangio was Jim's guy. You can't blame him for clinging onto Roman and give him no credit for bringing in Fangio.
