49ers definitely have it easy to sign Manning, I told you the 49ers should lock him down. He can make the throws... here's the sales pitch
"We pay you one year, if you are good, then you'll have a new stadium the next year"
"We have the #1 defense, and it just got stronger with ***"
"We have a great O-line, and a good running game to protect you"
"We signed Moss, we're looking at ManningHam/Lloyd/50billion other receivers, and we have a draft pick for either the O-line/WR. We have a Probowl tightend"
*Manning signs* easy complete package deal, AND he gets to be on a Superbowl contending team.
Btw I bet the 49ers have been looking at the Manning deal... and if you know anything about presentation, you want one of the last, or to be the last presentation so it is more fresh in the person's mind if he has to make a choice.
I wouldn't be surprised if he signs, and I wouldn't care much about Alex Smith either. Manning is a proven QB, add a nasty defense and a good running game and a strong o-line and you just have to insert anyone better than Alex for a good run.
Last but not least... Alex Smith still hasn't received a deal from the 49ers, despite all the speculations about a long term contract or the 3 year deal.

49ers have won with Montana and Young, both hall of famers. They aren't going to win with Alex Smith, that's just the bottom line. Manning is already a Hall of Famer, but is he going to end on a winning note? Like an Elway? I bet he does, he knows his time isn't the longest left in the game. The dude wants on a team that is showing the chances of a superbowl, not one he needs to be part of the reconstruction.
Well they were saying if they signed Manning, there would be no cap space left to sign Smith or bring in another WR. But either way, if Manning can stay healthy, he'll make our current receivers look like superstars. Plus it's not the 49ers fault Alex Smith still hasn't signed with the team. He could've done so, but wants more money I guess.

13-3 regular season.
Beat the Saints in the post season.
Lost to NY essentially because of one dude making repeated HUGE mistakes. With Ginn Jr. back there they win that game. Period.
I'd say that's winning. They did it with an aging RB and an undersized young RB. A TE that can be as cold as he is hot and crappy receivers. Crabtree could become a really really good receiver in this game if he can stay healthy. But essentially it's a bunch of 3-5 guys.
If he had a true number 1 to lean on I bet he throws for an average of 40 yards a game more. His stats were partially low because of game plan. When your defense is that good you do what you can to get a lead and then control the clock. Manage. That's their game. He's better than a lot of other QB's that have won superbowls.
Spending so much money on Manning that you can't afford to sign Smith back is not wise. It puts them in a position that they need to get their depth chart guys up to speed quickly. If Manning goes down they don't have **** right now. They need BOTH or just Smith.
People don't seem to remember that Manning just sat out a complete season. Chances are he won't get back to normal manning until week 4 at least... if ever. It's high risk... HIGH HIGH risk with low reward.
They nearly made the Super Bowl last season. If they dump Smith and make this move on Manning and don't make it to the Superbowl the season is a waste. Period.
It's dumb.
They need to learn from the Raiders. Takes more than one dude and no I don't think the addition to Moss is gonna help anything.
Completely changing a team so you can have 1 maybe 2 seasons with the Moss/Manning combo is... well, maybe good for ticket sales but not for the future of the organization. You'll have 2 years of playoff... Then you'll have a HUGE deficit to fill and not many great draft picks to do it with.
But hell... if they get 1 Super Bowl they'll look like genius'.
Basically risking the next 5 years for 1 or 2.
If Manning signs we can still pick up another receiver in the draft (probably will anyways, just not sure what we will do with the 1st round pick).
Damn, just noticed that we lost Adam Snyder to the Cardinals. Looks like a Starting Right Guard is going to be a concern that we address either in Free Agency or the Draft (this may be our 1st round pick now if we don't take a WR with the 1st round pick).

Since we picked up Rock Cartwright we may or may not still look to pick up another RB in the draft, but chances are they may be preparing for not having Ginn come back as he is not signed yet.

In the entire time he's been in the NFL, he's only cracked 300+ yards/game only 2 times. In College, only 4 times. 400+? O times.
Heck, he's only passed the 3000+ yard/season (both college and NFL combined) only once, which was last season. Hard to believe he could average 400+ yards/game, let alone 300.

Manning hype is being put out there to make Smith sign the short contract. I dont believe we're realistically trying to sign him considering what kind of contracts he's being offered by other teams. We simply cant afford a qb that will be worthless after 1 or 2 big hits.
^ if Manning's serious about wanting to win another Super Bowl, the 49ers is the only team on his list of possible destinations that has the best chance of doing that. Every football forum you go to, all football fans outside of the Bay Area are scared of a 49ers team with Manning in it and basically say the niners are automatic SB winners, as long as Manning can stay healthy.

I too am concerned about his neck and I know there is no guarantee that it's fine, but if it is, how can anyone dispute how much better he is than Alex.
If the Niners get Manning, they should sign a 3rd string veteran QB like Grossman, Delhome, Kitna, etc. Now, there is a veteran and Kaepernick as the backups.

Sorry this is just a ploy by the management to get Smith to sign the short contract. My guess is Manning to the Titans for a blank check they're willing to write him.

I'm guessing you meant 400 yards/game?

At that range he'd be just fine. Only 5 teams have QB's throwing for over 300 yards a game. 240 yards a game from Alex would do just fine with the defense they have and the running numbers they can put up.
I don't think they need to make this change right now and I"m not even a huge niners fan. I think they can win with what they have with a few upgrades... namely at WR. Another TE that can block so VD can run more patterns. Start considering another RB. Things like that.
I can see why they'd want to go with Manning and I can see why they went with Moss. But the only way it's a good move is if they win a super bowl THIS year. They've got 2 years max out of those two guys.

Oh the neck crap is just another load of BS. The 49ers aren't going to sign him for a huge length contract. If that means bombing the ball and not missing one a few occasions, or rolling out and not putting the ball in the dirt, that's what's going to happen.
The dude can play Football, Harbaugh even brought the docs to run checks on him. 49ers have the best chance since everything else is in place. 49ers probably wont need big dollars as guess what? Manning doesn't need big dollars. Manning has what? 2-3 years MAX left? He wants to win, he wants to win now, 49ers give him that opportunity more than any other team out there in the Manning-stakes.
All this ***** whining about his "neck" oh brother, how about Peterson's ACL? How about any other person on the football field? Everyone gets hit, and everyone knows they're 1 play from being out of the game. It's an argument made for everyone, and ALL QBs all the time. "Our 2nd string wont be able to do jack if our 1st string goes down" Well DUH.
All of you who vote Manning down at this point are failures. Manning stays healthy, he will always be better than anything Alex Smith can do. Manning gives us a stronger chance to win the games. Defense got stronger, and so can the offense needs to get stronger... and ****, you can have all the receivers you want, but if you got a dude who can't put the ball where it's supposed to be and let it go when it needs to be, you are **** out of luck.
