LOL. Dude... you're an *******. Some folks shouldn't be in to sports. Gonna give yourself a stroke.

Calling someone a failure because they're opinion on the importance of a football player are different than yours. Really.

I'm not discounting what Manning may be able to do. Hell they could win a super bowl with him right now. Who knows. They could have won one last year. If Moss actually tries to play they could put up huge numbers. It will help Crabtree get open.

I've got more but I have to work.

Eh, it's one way or the other, not the in between. Just like a true or false question. You either support the stride for Manning, or you don't support it.

It's true, 49ers were 2 fumbles away from the Superbowl. But it's also true that the 49ers can put up more points with someone as intelligent and as gifted as Manning is compared to Alex Smith.
1) 49ers covered their special teams by signing 2 other punt returners in *** + Cartwright.
2) 49ers covered their defense by re-signing pro bowlers and getting stronger at DB with ***.
3) 49ers are trying to cover their offense. Good running game, young o-line, pro bowl tight ends. WRs are lacking as well as the QB position. Face it, 49ers go into the season thinking being 25th or whatever in passing is going to cut it are smoking crack. To increase the passing offense, 49ers need improvements on WRs or accuracy, and Manning falls into that category.

I'm going to go ahead and say Im a failure and not in "Team Peyton". As much as he wants another ring, its about money if you only have a short time left to play considering your health issues. People will forever remember Manning as a Colt. His legacy is set. Now is the time to get paid and possibly make another run at the superbowl. Money in bank account > Ring

Again Peyton to the Titans!

Wow, if Peyton is really asking for 15-20mil a year, I'd definitely drop the hell no to that. That could be worth a whole lot more on the market in terms of receivers.

That's my point. No way can they afford him without damaging their cap down the road and/or not resigning valuable guys.

I think the addition of Moss and possibly another solid receiver... there are a LOT on the market this year. Niners are instantly much much better.

No Alex is not Manning. But he is better than what his stats have shown. He's had 7 offensive coordinators and no receivers for most of his career. He had one year in this system and look what he did... give him another year with better receivers... better year. If you bring in a dude like Moss and say another WR and he still is below 200 yards a game... dump him.

Yeah you miss out on Manning but you have a good young dude on the bench to develop and you have draft picks and free agents coming up next year.

Manning is too damn expensive. You don't get a dude like that without paying (and I'm a manning fan). Even if he plays cheaper than he's worth he makes more than the niners should spend.

Arizona is where he should be.

I agree on all points. I forgot about Cartwright.

I still think they should reach for another WR.

I think Alex could have been in the 210 range last year easy but they played management ball a lot. When they turned him loose a little bit he did fine. With receivers if he can up that to 240 the niners will be VERY hard to beat.

I don't think he's been given a fair shake. No other QB in history has put up with the flux that he's put up with and at the end of it nearly put a team in the Super Bowl. (and I was on team Rodgers that year in the draft!)

Err I meant Manningham 2 year deal. No excuses that we don't have good receivers anymore.

^^ Crabtree/Manningham/Moss, + VD and DWalker? Can you get anymore receivers? Talk about raking in what was needed!

Now I'm really interested in the draft. 49ers burned a #1 a couple years ago on Crabtree, I wonder if they burn another on a WR or go with another O-line(2 studs in the same year, add a 3rd to really make it strong for the next 5 years)/D-line (can't hurt with another pass rusher)or even a DB to solidify and learn from Goldson/Rogers.

Think Kaepernick can throw well enough to those guys?

Smith meets with Miami today.

Think if Manning AND Smith go somewhere else....

It's not the 49ers' fault Smith didn't sign earlier. Smith even acknowledged to reporters that he liked the 3 year deal the niners gave him. It was probably his agent who told him to wait and see. But if Smith liked the deal, he should have taken it. The agent works for the player, not the other way around. If he thinks there's a conflict of interest with Smith and Manning, he should be changing agents asap.

^Still doesnt change the fact they may end up without an established QB at the helm.

Eh, that could be true, but again. You put anyone in there besides an A.Smith and you might get the same detail. Sure he earned it last year, especially against the Saints, that he can throw the big ball. But again, with a good special teams/defense almost anyone in there would have been fine.

Could this be the year Kaepernick gets the helm? Could be. Could it be that A.Smith NOT signing with the 49ers means more cap room for a Manning to negotiate with? Could be. Smith was going to walk anyways with the Niners signing Manning. There just wouldn't have been any room.

I'm really interested in what Manning says on Monday or Tuesday. 49ers could end up takin' a peek at Flynn or a few others floatin' around... maybe even Campbell? This is gonna get goooood.
