San Francisco 49ers reportedly plan to bid for Super Bowl L - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN
UPDATED APR 15, 2012 2:12 AM ET
The San Francisco 49ers, who will break ground on their new $1.2 billion stadium Thursday, are planning to bid for Super Bowl L, The Sacramento Bee reported Saturday, citing sources.
Teams are required to play two full seasons in a new venue before they are eligible to host a Super Bowl and the 49ers are reportedly confident the stadium will be ready for the 2014 season. Super Bowl L will be played in February, 2016.
If San Francisco was to win the bid it would make for a bit of symmetry for the NFL as Super Bowl I was held in California, in Los Angeles in 1967.
The Super Bowl Advisory Committee will begin accepting applications from interested cities for Super Bowl L in the summer, before deciding on finalists in October.

Tough start on that schedule. I cant wait to till Aldon Smith introduces himself to Tommy 3 rings. There will probably be a brand new rule after that game!

Eh, they get home against the Giants (every game is epic between these two teams), then Thursday at home against Seattle, then 2 Monday's against Arizona with the bye week. Not bad
49ers also got more Monday night games, probably because they're top in the division and people want to look at them more.

With all the WR prospects, A.J. Jenkins was like #15 on the list. Stephen Hill was still on the board too. Interesting pick to say the least.
But I trust Harbaugh and Baalke. Aldon Smith came out the woodworks and killed QBs.

Dunno man I understand Jenkins has a 4.3 and is likely going to be a deep threat but passing on Gronk 2.0 (Fleener) is just dumb. You can teach a guy how to block and put on 20 pounds but you cant teach him to grow 6 inches. Jenkins would've been there in the second round most likely. He was projected to go 50-60ish not to mention guys like Sanu and Hill are better prospects as well.
I think we have a pretty solid core of WRs now and adding a TE with huge potential > adding a WR that will be another Crabtree/Ginn skill player.

A.J. Jenkins information and reasons the Niners took him.
Baalke Discusses Day 1 of the Draft
49ers Tab A.J. Jenkins as Pick No. 30
Coach's Notebook: April 26 (Love that Harbaugh essentially doesn't give the media anything.
)
I was definitely surprised by this pick as I would think they would have been able to get him lower down, but they definitely felt they would not have it looks like. We'll see what happens.

I like the numbers for Hill, but they do not have much game tape on him as he wasn't a big contributor for Georgia Tech last year. I can't remember where it was at, but there was mention in that he was a very raw prospect that didn't run very good routes.
Harbaugh and Baalke seem to be going back to the Bill Walsh ways for drafting and those seemed to turn out pretty well for the Niners.
There are still a ton of guys left to draft (and those that go undrafted). We'll have to see how this pans out. Just because the names have been made popular doesn't necessarily make them the best players.
I was a bit more surprised about the fact that the Giants passed on Fleener to take the RB David Wilson.
I see Fleener going to the Colts (unless someone like the Falcons trade up to get him at the top of the 2nd round).

I'll take 4.31 and separation speed. Another weapon for the 49ers. His hands are ginormous, highlight reels is all hands on every catch. Heard he doesn't loose speed either through the break on routes, which again creates that separation.
49ers get that, makes their offense that much more dynamic. Teams usually dress only 5 WRs, that'd be Moss, Manningham, Crabtree, Jenkins, and Ted Ginn Jr. Williams and Crabtree better up their game if they want to play.
