Official: 49ers 2012-2013 Season Thread!
By Matt Maiocco
The 49ers confirmed that Aldon Smith was involved in an incident early Saturday morning and incurred minor injuries.
The team issued the following statement:
"The San Francisco 49ers are aware that Aldon Smith incurred minor injuries during an incident last night. We are in contact with Aldon, and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably. The 49ers are also in communication with local authorities as they gather information regarding the incident, and will reserve further comment at this time."
Smith was admitted to the emergency room at Regional Medical Center in San Jose. He was treated and released at 5 a.m., a hospital source told CSNBayArea.com.
Smith’s mother, reached at her home in Missouri, declined comment on her son’s condition.
According to the Santa Clara Sheriff's Office, they responded to a 911 call at 2:14 a.m. from a large house party in San Jose Saturday, and transported three victims to local hospitals with non-life-threatening wounds.
Responding deputies were met by a large crowd of people at the house party and located two gunshot victims and one stabbing victim.
A sheriff’s department spokesman said investigators are still gathering information and there are no suspects in the case.
Smith's first NFL offseason has been tumultuous. He was charged with a DUI in Miami Beach on Jan. 28, booked in Miami-Dade County jail and held on $1,000 bond.
Smith, the No. 7 overall pick of the 49ers last year, signed a four-year, $14.38 million contract that included a signing bonus of $8.96 million.
He recorded 14 sacks and 30 tackles in 16 games, as well as two sacks and four tackles in two postseason games.
Smith, 22, surpassed Charles Haley's mark of 13 for the most sacks by a rookie in a 49ers season, and came up a half sack shy of Jevon Kearse's all-time rookie record of 14.5 sacks.

Cliff notes: Aldon goes to a party, receives minor injuries in an incident at the party, goes to hospital for treatment. Party had 2 gunshot victims, and 1 victim who was stabbed. No word on who shot/shanked the victims.

I wonder what the 49ers are going to do with the RB position. There are already some guarantees.
Gore
Hunter
Jacobs
James (Probably playing special teams)
Dixon?
Cartwright?
Defense looks almost set in stone already. Got the 3 lineman with good backups such as Jean Francios. Backup linebackers such as Haralson and Grant look good.
The battle is going to be in the secondary. Whitner, Goldson, Rogers are in.
I'm also going to be interested in the receiver battles.
Moss
Manningham
Jenkins
Crabtree
Williams (Special Teams guy too)
Swain doesn't look like he's going away, he's special teams too.
Palmer is gone, dropped a few open passes.
Alex looked good
Kaepernick can run, not much of a passer
Tolzien looks good

This is actually pretty crazy to see the Niners not just have a solid team, but we are actually to a point that we have so much depth we are going to have to make decisions to get rid of potentially good players. This is a good problem to have.
Agreed the WR's & RB's will be the interesting positions to watch for the position battles as well as the Backup QB battle.

Good game yesterday. Lots of potential on our team. The only problem we still have imo is the secondary. There were a lot of plays with missed coverages and just straight up sloppy play. We need to fix that asap because we're going to be facing a lot of pass heavy teams this year.
Maybe Im over reacting and once the starters are set in stone, the chemistry will come into play. We'll see.
