Ya know - I was looking at those years ago when I still had by Bug-Eye Wagon. I could never find anyone that actually used one.
I believe you that the floor brace works, but
That part of the car just dosen't seem like it would be that prone to stress.

here is a great brace for the front thats cheap, I combined it with a jdm titanium strut bar for the top part (strut tower brace is not as functional at all as this piece but a great addition) i got for 90 shipped on ebay.
roughly 160$ I think heuberger sold me mine for 129 shipped or something crazy. Front subframe to crossmember

Just as a warning to the H-Brace. When I bought mine, the ALK I had interfered with it. A shop used some clico (sp?) washers to correct for the ALK geometry, but I don't think it worked, as the welds ended up snapping on the H-Brace. This was a genuine Subaru part purchased from Subaru.

I remembered this thread from a while ago when I put down my deposit on a Triangle brace GB on nasioc.
The Oswald triangle brace was made in the interim between when Car Labs discontinued the X-brace and when TIC picked up the rights to it. It's not technically "the X-brace" but it's the functional equivalent.
The GB is still accepting people and is at it's cheapest tier now... $360 shipped. I think today is the last day.
Thought people who haven't been banned from nasioc yet might be interested in picking one of these up for cheap.

Mine just got here today, but there is a problem with the lower bracket. Mickey already noticed this and asked participants of the group buy to check. Mine is one of the bad ones, but he says we should have replacements in-hand in around 2 weeks. I am in no hurry but wanted to give a heads-up in case anyone else got one but did not see his message.
Still can't wait to get the front subframe, and I keep forgetting to pick up a set of cowl braces..

Since this thread is popping back up again I'll give a small update:
In short the car works really well now. I've got it setup that I can very easily trail brake into a corner and make the tail step out. It's very predictable.
I'm now contemplating doing lateral link and trailing arm bushings.
...but the car is working so well, I'm hesitant to mess with it

The lateral links and trailing arms from sti with pillowball bushing are a nice upgrade Lowend. I was always weary on how it was going to affect me on bumpy roads because I don't like a car reacting off the spring and being jittery. The pillowballs actually improved corner ability but improved the ride and how the car reacts on poor roads. Can't speak to the aftermarket adjustable's. You can sell your sti lateral links for a good amount and just order the ones marketed for forester as sti (they are stock sti alumn but with pillowball bushings), can find you the part number. Don't mistakenly buy the pink steel ones and have to return them like me.

I'd like that PN if you have it
Although I've heard that the pillow ball STI Lateral links won't stand up to the larger rear swaybars.
That might be the steel ones though

So the pink steel ones would fit your car since it's an 04 and they have the crappy box mount but you want to get the silver ones for 05-07 being aluminum and a lot lighter and because they are slightly longer 11mm total~ it gives the car a wider track. They are the reason for 05-07 having a wider track. Anyway it sounds like it will actually be an even bigger upgrade for you, but your stock ones might not be worth as much.

Hmmm - so I'm a little confused by this...
If the track is wider on the bottom, thats going to both alter toe and camber. Some of this can be adjusted with alignment, but 11mm seems like a hell of a lot of "push out"
Now- I'm looking more, it looks like the aluminum STI links cost about the same as the Whiteline adjustables... hmmm
<Edit>
After more research - I'm gonna order the 05 STI arms
