Fender Braces, X-Brace & Downpipe results
The good folks at Speed Element installed my parts yesterday
This was the addition of
TIC Fender Braces
TIC X-Brace
Along with a AVO Catted Downpipe.
I'll start by saying this job was a little bigger than the SE crew was expecting. It sounds like the X-Brace was a serious PITA to adjust and took an hour just for fitting.
Chassis-Wise the car is definitely tighter. All of the rattles and squeaks are gone . I would say it feels much more BMW-ish in that the chassis moves in one piece. It feels very consistent. Road noise seems to have decreased.
I can't really speak for the turn-in yet as I haven't had time to go really wail on the car. But I'm happy with the results for sure.
The X-Brace is well out of the way in the trunk. The Fender Braces are... behind the fenders and invisible.
The Downpipe - has a definite effect. It's quieter than I expected in fact the only thing that seems loader is the bypass valve. Power gain is mostly in the midrange and noticeable. I was hoping for a little more on the bottom, but should have know better with an exhaust.

I actually checked it this afternoon... the SE guys forgot to load the Stage II program off my Accessport. I dropped in the 91 Oct Stage II realtime map and it made a pretty big difference (vs the Stage I map).
I'll probably do a custom tune at some point, but I'm not done playing with the motor yet.
Bear in mind with me... torque is kinda relative. I drove an Auto-X prepped Camaro that made 400+ ft/lbs from 1800-6900 RPM for many years. Ain't nothing I'm gonna do to a 2.5 liter to get there

Now that you've done an OTS tune, get a legit tune and watch things change.
My car was way more fun at Stage 2 OTS, but with a true tune it absolutely came alive and got angry - in a good way.
