How do you know there is a leak?
Symptom(s)?

Using pressurized smoke, I can find most leaks.
You just gotta get the car to me.

well i "know" there is a leak due to a couple of reasons.

First, car will begin to boost and just when the car starts to pull, power just dies out, boost is still present, this happens at around 5600 rpm, but not ALL the time. This is the main reason why i believe it to be a boost leak.

Secondly, it sounds like a whistle under boost, a strong sympton of a boost leak.

I also believe some sort of vacuum leak may be present, a small one, but there non the less.

On occasion i get a stumbly idle.

The car runs fine when im not on it, i just want to get everything running right before i get it tuned...

paul, i am available on saturday's, what is your rate on dyno tuning, cobb protune, vf30, pinks, fmic, shortram, catless up, highflow catted tbe.

also what would you charge to work out the kinks before i get tuned?

Thanks in advance!!

well uhmmm.... last I checked, you should get re-tuned if you're switching from a TMIC to a FMIC.

i know that, im trying to put as many mods on the car i want before i get it tuned, no since in getting it tuned 10 times for 10 differnt mods.

In order to get tuned, you need to smooth out all the kinks before hand

Not bashing you, but im already well aware of the necessity for a tune =)

I'd call a tuneroni and get a second opinion. Tell them you install an FMIC without tuning it afterward.

your missing the point, i cant get it tuned unless i am able to run a baseline,

im not willing to pay for someone else to tell me, hey this is leaking, i would rather have someone local lend me the parts to get it done myself.

obviously you havent seen my car, i do EVERYTHING myself.

im scared to let another person tune it!!

ive seen cars under boost die out due to cheap turbo inlets collapsing, other than that smoke is a good start

Here are a few links that will help you with a pressure test. It does sound linke you have a leak in your piping. Most common spot I have seen is down by the radiator, before or after the piping goes into/leaves the intercooler.

You probably have a leak in your intake system. Search for "pressure test" or something similar on the here or NASIOC, and do what it says. I found 2 leaks the night before my tune, and both made a whistling sound once I charged the piping with as little as 5 psi.

Take a 2 inch PVC cap....I found mine in the plumbing section. I bought a few adapters so I could screw in an air fitting for my compressor. I attached it to the first coupling coming from the turbo and tightened the clamps well. I then set the pressure for 5 pounds at first, and raised it to 15 or so once I had all the leaks out. Too much can damage your engine.

If you want to test your intake and turbo inlet, get a silicone reducer coupling, or a larger PVC cap.

I R confused.
Do you want me to pressure test or do you want to do it yourself?
Same goes for tuning.

I think he wants to get as much done himself before the tune, so you guys are not trouble shooting the car when the dyno is waiting. I could be wrong tho

I am the same way...Tuning is the ONLY thing I have let another person do to my car, with the exception of handing me a wrench or pulling on a tough bolt lol.

yeah that^ guy is smart he understands what flatline wants. hahah A lot of us r like that though. It's depressing when you take ur car to get to tune just to find out they can't tune ur car because the AFR's r hella high or what not so ur thinking where the heck is the boost leak??? It's better to have ur car running without leaks and other crap before taking ur car in for a tune unless u know u have problems and would like the tuning shop to fix ur car. I would only take my car to a shop if I was to give up and didn't know anyone who can help me with a problem on car.

^^^^^ Bingo!! My man understands!!!

I KNOW that my car needs a tune, but i dont want to pay someone to fix it for 2 hours then pay another 250 for tuning on top of 75 bucks an hour. its just insane!!

I know how to pressure test, only problem, i dont have any means of putting in the compressed air!!

IM willing to let someone else pressure test my car, but for the right price..... hence the beer and pizza and we work on it together =)

IF i had a dyno, and IF i had the capabilities to tune my car myself, i would.

HOWEVER< i dont, so i want to smooth out all the kinks so my tuning time is TUNING and not FIXING time =)
