Insurance is complicated.
Insurance is complicated.
While I'm on this subject, where did you end up getting it repaired? I went to the Sac/Reno/Bay Area bbq over the weekend and I ended up picking up a rock chip in the far right hand corner of my windshield, which wasn't bad...except that a day later it sent a split down a good part of my windshield. I will most likely pay out of my pocket for this one.

Glass is covered under comprehensive coverage.
Lots of company's glass coverage will pay to have your windshield repaired if possible. If they have to replace it, then you pay your deductible.
Most companies won't/can't charge you for a glass claim.
You will still have to pay your deductible if you go through insurance. Sometimes some glass places will give you a discount equal to your deductible if you go to them directly.
