Exclamation Need help finding a location for our 9th annual "Mt Hamilton" meet! Help us please!

The time is drawing near for our 9th annual BAIC Meet/Festival formally known as "Mt. Hamilton meet". I'd love to keep using Mt. Hammy but we outgrew that place so it isn't an option if we get 300+ cars like we did 3 years ago.

Since we have people from all over the bay area in this forum, I figured that some of you would know of some good locations that we could use for our meet. Here are the pre-requisites:

1. Has to be somewhere in the bay area

2. Has to be able to accommodate about 300 cars at least

3. Must have a nice recreation area with grass, etc just like Mt Hammy did (where people can sit, relax, and play). The area has to be able (allow) to have things like "jousting" or whatever games/events that we decide on doing. Normally these games are set up in the grassy recreational area... Along with soccer, frisbee, etc.

4. Electricity is very important, but if the place is great we can overlook that and bring a generator, or use batteries in a big boom box or something because we NEED music... The meet just lacks without it. That's one thing I would have changed last year, no music = sad BAICers.

5. It'd be great to have a location that is remote, or uses a windy road to get to, and/or is away from things like hammy was.

This is priority number 1, without a location we can't do anything so we need to find one and book it so that we can start planning what goes on in the meet. If you can think of any place, please speak up!

as most of you know, usually I run this event and have done so until last year where I couldn't find the time to do it, so our friend Jourdan took over and did last years event by himself. Since it was his first time things didn't turn out exactly like some of you expected but he did a great job for what little he had to go off of. This year we decided to work as a big team to get one hell of an event going for all your BAICers! The team will include Jourdan, Gagan, and myself which means that the event is going to rock!

There are other things I need your guys' help with, but that will come later, for now we need to find a location ASAP.

Thank you BAIC, I look forward to seeing all of you guys and gals at the event! (It will be in late summer like it always is, expect late august/early September)

Just a suggestion, but how about we do the endpoint/meet at a beach. We could drive 17 starting in the south bay/saratoga, and end up on the coast. Power would be a problem there, but we could still bbq and play frisbee whatever. Just a thought.

How about Stafford Lake in Novato. Bay Area VW and Volvo meets are held there as well as Labor Day festivals and huge concerts. Journey actually played there a couple of years ago. There are plenty more major events held at Stafford Lake through out the year. There is plenty of parking and recreation areas are more than large enough to accomatdate what we need it for, plus, us North Bay guys won't have to drive like 2 hours! The lake is also on your way out towards Pt. Reyes and Stinson beach so plenty of twists and turns. I personnaly think it is an ideal spot.

Situated on the shore of Stafford Lake, three miles west of Novato, this 139 acre park offers lake fishing, a nature trail, picnic areas with barbecue facilities for groups of up to 500 people, a popular children's play structure, lawn areas, a softball field, volleyball, disc golf and horseshoe courts.

Quarry lakes is a fine spot for ordinary car meets where people stand around their cars talking, etc... Even though it has a grass area as well as a covered BBQ area, it still screams "ordinary public park". Not only that, but its smack center of Fremont and I know a lot of folks that didn't go for that very reason.

I had a large number of people come up to me an complain about the location and how they missed Mt Hamilton, they all made the same statement, basically that it was "too ordinary".

I want a place that is nice, perhaps in the hills somewhere. Isolation is really nice too, quarry lakes lacks all of those... Might as well just meet in a really large parking lot.

Let me just put it this way... I'll use Quarry lakes if it is my last and only option. I'm not going to make people pay $5 to get into a parking lot. I know it has a lake, but its nothing special... Hell, it isn't even real. I dunno, maybe its because I love 3 mins from the lake.

Hell yeah, that goes for anyone who can get us stuff for the meet! The more stuff we have for the meet the better it is for everyone on the day of. I've learned a lot about what people want and like over the last 8 years, 7 of which I led. One thing I can tell you people LOVE is swag, and raffles! I'm going to try to set up a giant mother of all raffles this year...
