To be honest, I don't trust them. Seeing how much more we had to do at America's Tire in order to have it guarenteed and covered by our insurance makes me a little weary of anything less. Though, if you havn't had any problems, they may be worth a try.

I had a screw in my tire (225/45x17 Kuhmo Ecsta) and had it plugged (@ Goodyear). Cost me about 20 bucks and I've been driving hard on it for over 3500 miles now. No probs, no leaks. Hope that helps.

My local America's Tire will fix tires they have supplied for free. If you got the tire elsewhere, they charge $13, but will give credit for that if you buy tires from them in the future. I've had 5 flats in the last two years so I'm pretty much a regular there.

I got a nail in my current tires. It didn't go deep enough to make a difference, I just pulled it right out.

They used to install plugs at service stations too, but I think they discovered that they could get more money if they do it the hard way. Personally, I don't trust most of the monkeys at the tire shops to do a patch. I can see the guy cutting through too much meat on the inside of the tire in my head (when roughing it up for the patch.

just remember that if you get your tire plugged, patched or whatever, it drops the performance/speed rating of the tire one or two levels depending on tire and the hole size.

go with a professionally installed patch, versus a plug.

it is really important, you can't afford to take the risk.

I had to do the same today...

You mean the 18 year old "professionals" at Americastire, with their hangovers and all?

If they slip with that rasping tool an cut a belt in your tire, think they'll tell you?
How about scratching your wheels, mis-torquing your lugs, and all that?

No thanks.

My company has a great relationship with Big-O. so that's where I had mine repaired, and where I intend to get my tires in the future.
