Thats the 4 door sedan you're getting mixed up with.. I can't find any used ones for the most part. Also you can look at the 240sx models that came out in the 90s, the KA24 is a truck engine for crying out loud, still a decent performer, but no SR.. I think the car has lots of potential, I'm sure the engine will pop if I try pumping too much out of it in stock form, but as long as it feels good and drives good then I don't really see a problem. It's not the car to cure my sports car need forever, but there's nothing that really draws me in or interests me to the point where I can't live without it. But I'm making good money and can afford it, and I'm young. In 5 years I'll grow and and get an M5 or something classy. But for now, this can work I think

See what i mean, all these people tell you the same negative stuff about the car basically but they ain't getting blasted like me, wtf is up with that! I ain't the only one with this kind of knowledge & feelings, every Hyundai still sucks, no matter how hard they try. In this price range, stick with Subie, it don't get any better, trust me. All i'm gonna say is wait until you drive it, then you'll know what we're all talking about, it's the only way for sure.
BTW. I have driven several of these cars, I like them don't get me wrong. Quality is up, the way it drives is nice, and looks ok too. But it's a Hyundai. Not saying I'd never own one, but not right now.

For the record, Hyundai has really upped their quality in the last few years.
I bought an Elantra Touring about 1.5 years ago and it's been flawless.
Always been curious about the Genesis... don't hear much about them.
I recall someone *****ing about the tranny's being weak

As for Hyundai not being reliable, that's in the past. Newer models are reliable and have good warranty.
I do like new genesis coupe in look department. I like to look at it whenever I pass by my coworker's.
But it was money, I would hold on to it for another year and see what Subaru have to offer on their new rwd.
If you must get a rwd car now, how about a used s2000? Super fun to drive. You could add power by installing Vortech supercharger (CARB legal).
I feel you on desire to own rwd. I have Z and Rex.

My Coworker has the v-6 Coupe and it is really nice "Suprizingly nice" Its not all that fast and the aftermarket has not taken off for it but if you are looking for what it is..
"an Affordable luxury sports car" then that it is.
I would easily compare it to my 95 lexus sc 400 which retailed in 95 for 40k
I wish hundai could loose its stigma because they have been putting out great cars for the last 2-3 years.
Hundai actually considered releasing the gennissis line under a different name just to loose the stigma and I believe they are still considering it.

On a side not, speaking of the global engine, i think it was called GEMA, a partnership between Dodge, Hyundai, & Mitsubishi to make a worldwide 2.0 4 cyl motor that they can all use. I think Mitsubishi got the best deal out of it by far cuz they're the only one to have the strongest motor out of the three. They probably told the others to detune their motors & not make it powerful so it can't compete or outshine their mighty Evo X at the time. You wanna know why, cuz the Dodge Caliber SRT-4 back then was suppose to have 300 hp but mysteriously got detuned at the last minute to 260, hmmm sounds fishy to me. Mitsubishi didn't want to get embarrassed by a cheaper alternative, if so then no one would want to buy an Evo X at it's current price, so they said no way jose. And look at Hyundai's situation, even worse, their version of it only producing 210 hp, talk about pathetic. They got the worst end of the stick imho. It's basically the same architecture, but with the respective company's own parts, so it has the capability to be strong & fast from the start, Mitsubishi just monopolized it since the "Evo" just had to be the very best, performance wise & in the consumer's head. It was all politics man, i'm not even sure if the three way Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance still exists. All i can say is if the SRT-4 & Genesis Coup had the same hp as the Evo from the factory but was way cheaper, it would have been a completely different story, so much for equality huh.
First off, nobody that owns a WRX/STI has a leg to stand on to judge any cars resale value. WRX/STIs regularly trade for HALF of their sale price only after 4-5 years.
As for power, well its a turbo so who here cares about what it comes with from the factory
scroll through this, the 2.0 is putting tons of hp on stock motors, about even about the same numbers as evos with the same mods.

As far as reliability, well I guess they cant all be bulletproof like modded EJ motors and suby manual transmission lol *runs and hides!*

I could be wrong, but 2002 WRXs' are holding their value pretty well and worth considerably more than a 2002 BMW 3 series (craigslist.org "south bay"). Just my two cents.
