Might be buying a Genesis Coupe this weekend. Thoughts?
I've been looking at The Genesis Coupe for awhile now. I'm going Saturday to test drive a 2012 R-Spec 2.0T at a SF dealership. Does anyone know someone that owns a Gen Coupe? I've heard almost nothing but compliments about them. I could buy an STI, but I want a fun rwd with 0 miles and a warrantee. And since I brainwashed my girlfriend into buying a WRX, I can still get my Subie kicks.. Anyway let's hear it if you have anything to say about them.

Yeah that's the way I see them.. I'll admit they need some help in the front looks wise from the factory i.e. Needs new grill, a lip, and black out the Crome headlights, besides that the body lines are pretty good looking.

^^ I hear you on the 5.0.. But I'm looking in the sub $30k range. I could afford a point, but I want something I won't mind putting miles on but can still have fun with.. In 10 years I won't care it has 200k miles on it or whatever

No V8 for the coupe.. I'm going to test drive both the 4 banger and the V6.. But I'm leaning towards the 4 cylinder, mainly cause there's more aftermarket support it.
Only problem I have with the Genesis is that it is a Hyundai. I know they are doing big things lately, but... it's still a Hyundai. Also, I don't know if you care, but a refresh on that particular car is just around the corner.
Other than that, it is the best RWD coupe in that price range.
Personally I would wait for the BRZ or go for a 370 Z.

oh snap, i didnt even look at the price of the models. im sorry but for that kind of money you can get a wrx and be full of the joy and happiness that comes with owning a subaru. saying your gf owns one doesnt compare to owning one. what gas mileage does the 4cyl version of the genesis get? i also almost regret it before saying it but have you looked at a new civic si? i had an 07 and they are great cars, they are like driving go karts and they last forver. its hard to predict the future reliability of a car that hasnt been out very long

Great IIHS ratings, great 10yr/100k warranty, really nice car. Go for it.
I keep hearing "It's a Hyundai" but they have really turned everything around in the past three years. If you have even sat inside a Hyundai in the past two or three years, you know what I mean. They are really nice cars... the whole line up. Tons of accolades across the board from tons of different sources.

I owned a Bugeye already. (won best bugeye at BAM9). I'd like a hawkers STI, but I rally race a WRX, and like I said, my girl has a tuned bugeye, so I get my thrills for awd. But I want a rwd fun car..
I thought about waiting for the BRZ/FT-86, but I don't want to wait another year or more to get a car, but if when it comes out I like it more than the Gen coupe then I'll trade it in.
The 2.0T has the same block as the EvoX, so it's essentially a detuned Mitsubishi engine.
As for gas milage, they claim it gets a few mpg better than the 3.8. But ive read on forums that V6 guys are getting better milage than the 2.0 guys. But it's all how you drive so I don't take what other people get for mpg as solid facts.

they seem really over priced? Not sure. If you could get the on with the brembos for under 25, prob cool but anything over that meh. Frankly I'd pocket my money until the new scion fr-s/bz comes out or step up to an sti ftw
