lolBack to topic, Ugh, It looked like there was traffic from the 92 all the way to the capistrano rd exit...feeling hopeless, turned around and drove south, took 84, then Pescadero Rd back to PCH, and had lunch at Gazos grill (great place by the way)
Anyone made it to Mavericks??

I went. Got there right after the waves washed away the beach goers. Ambulances were coming down the hill when we showed up. Hiked the cliff. Watched for a while then drove the coast. Meh.
Thats a nice drive, but I always get unlucky and get stuck behind someone going 5 under the limit. Try going to the very top of Mt. Tam, much less traffic and great picture opportunities on a clear day.

Yeah, I'm thinking about doing a nice day-long drive again...start in Marin City, and head on up there, then out to play around at the Point Reyes lighthouse, the Reyes Peninsula area, and perhaps end up in Tomales or something...
...but by invitation only so I'm not having to wait for 45 minutes for someone who can't be on time.

What are those that were swept away gonna sue now? mothernature? Ive lived in this area all my life and dealt with the massive amounts of people this contest brings, my dad was an investor with Jeff Clark who now doesnt run this. Those pictures posted earlier with the 3.2mp thats shot from ross' cove which ive even surfed at. This year was ridiculous with how many cars were parked on the highway and people walking in the middle of it like its a pedestrial walk way. Get outta here if youre gonna do this and trash our beaches.

Well, the latter is what happens when you ***** yourself out to the media. I went once years ago and it was so crowded it kept me from ever going back. I can only imagine the hordes of people this last year with all the mainstream media attention it received.
Besides, even with a good viewing spot, theres not a whole lot of action to see. My friend lives right there and was gonna take me out on his jetski, but even he wants nothing to do with that circus.
It probably was best just to watch it online. It's too bad they don't have tv coverage of the event considering this is such a Big Local Event. Granted they should have just been showing the surf the whole time and not CONSTANTLY switching back to the broadcasters as they could barely see anything going on and seemed to be wrong quite a bit of the time.
