I agree with this. I always found it funny that I for all my jobs since graduating college I have been required to submit and pass criminal, driving, credit, salary history and scholastic background checks along with professional/personal references and drug screenings...yet for firearms purchase I only needed the first...

FIRST OF ALL in California you only get 1 hand gun per 30days and a 10 day wait
every single purchase there after REQUIRES another BACKGROUND check 10 day wait and 1 new hand gun per 30 days
and the difference between job applications and a fire arm is you CHOOSE to submit for a job, the firearm purchase is protected by the second amendment which sees to it that it is A RIGHT under the United States Constitution

PLEASE take the time to watch this video (everyone can benefit from it gun nutts or anti's)
i think a lot of people are confused between a Military style assault rife and a the civilian version.
the differences are night a day and not the people killing machines the media likes to scare with

I bought two guns back to back; second one purchased on the 31st day after the first, and had to go through the same exact verification and background check.
I think what he is saying though is that they do "one" check, but the reality is, they are checking for the obvious red flags and that you are who you say you are. They aren't just doing a criminal history check.
In Colorado, the guy had no history, criminal or mental to speak of, so what was a background check going to catch? He bought everything legally and still did what he did.

Are you sure about this? Does this only apply to handguns? Last time i purchased 2 shotguns on the same day, time before that i had 3 lowers.

I am not sure lowers by themselves count. Shotguns are long guns, so the 30day may not apply, but the 10 day wait does. That 30 day wait I believe is specific to handguns. The two I purchased back to back were handguns.

lowers shotguns and long guns yes all have a 10 day wait and require a full background check
the 1-30 days and 10 day wait + lock purchase + background check is for new handguns

You should take your own advice seeing as how you seem to not know what your talking about. Your information is wrong. You can purchase, AND recieve more than one firearm in 30 days.

Waiting Periods by State
That shows as of Aug 2012, California is not listed as having a wait period for long guns.
Private Party Transfers are also exempt IIRC.

What are you on about? My point wasn't about buying multiple guns, waiting period challenges, constitutional compassions, etc. It was about lack of scrutiny over potential owners. I just find it interesting an individual is probably examined more thoroughly in instances other than obtaining a lethal weapon. And I won’t argue the merits of the 2nd amendment principal; however, it still needs to be implemented into the real world. There are red flags besides criminal behavior that can indicate an individual might require additional checking.
EDIT: Sorry for multiple edits to finalize my thoughts, but I am multitasking at work

You are only allowed in California to purchase 1 NEW handgun from a store / per 30 days, you can transfer as many USED/Private Party guns as many as you can afford.

the backround checks are not good for ever as it was implied previously by someone here :x
