I was watching Game 2 of the NBA Western Conference Finals, and I have to tell you something. I've always admired Karl Malone. I know he plays physical and throws his body around. I was always the first person to defend him for that. But this time, I can't. That shot to Darrick Martin's throat was just chicken s---. For lack of a better word.
Listen, I know emotions are part of the game, but isn't part of that knowing how to control your emotions? Use your head. You're a veteran, a sure Hall of Famer.
The beauty of it is that Martin made the free throws and Minnesota won the game. I know Malone took less money to come to L.A. because he only wanted to win. Yeah, I've heard the same damn speech from everyone who's ever switched teams. Here's a question for Malone: If you want to win so badly, shouldn't you try to stay in the game? I didn't see Shaq or Kobe trying anything like that.
That didn't send a message about anything. His explanation that he was retaliating for a hit Latrell Sprewell put on Derek Fisher earlier in the game was lame. First of all, that wasn't a hit. It was a pick, and it was clean. Second, why the hell do you go after Martin? You're trying to tell me Sprewell wasn't available? Hey, Karl -- why do you always go after the little guy?
Malone's lucky he is who he is. Look what happened to Anthony Peeler. Guy elbows the league MVP in the conference semis, and he's gone. Kicked out and suspended. Since Malone is Malone and Martin is Martin, this ends with a $7,500 fine. Got to protect those stars. Can't have the ratings go down.
After all he's done in the league, Malone didn't send any message in that game. Well, one message: He's a Hall of Fame cheapshot artist.

Dude, why are Laker fans like Honda drivers? There's so many of them and a lot of them are obnoxious (I know a couple who are good friends of mine, who happen to be part of the 3% of decent Laker fans). LOL

Gee what a surprize once the Lakers get stomped on all their fans are no longer fans? Where is the Lake show? Today there was nothing more i could ask for. Karl Malone sitting on the bench sobbing like a damn baby. Can anyone get a picture of that? Pistons can hopefully finish this series in the next game. The rest of the Lakers better show up besides Kobe and Shaq or they are getting a long plane ride back to LA. HAH! Goes to show a team that plays well together and is not crammed with washout superstars works out better. I cant believe this either but an Eastern team just might win the title. Rasheed wants this title bad hopefully it goes to the right team. Go pistons beat the crap out of the lakers.

....been really busy lately, so fell off on the Laker rah-rah....guess this is what happens when I don't represent for the Lake Show!
but while the Laker haters are the ones coming outa the woodwork like roaches, it's not over yet. Things do look bleak and no bones about it, they're getting outplayed by Detroit. (btw, I hate it when I'm right....called it waaaay back in the 1st round of the playoffs when I said the Lakers would have trouble w/the team speed & athleticism of the Pacers OR Indiana).
Anyways, the LAKERS have risen to the occasions and met all challenges thus far in the playoffs. We'll see if they have anything left and play like TRUE champions or at least w/a little pride on Tues and send the series back to LA.
Btw, at least the LAKERS are still IN the playoffs/Finals, unlike "some" team(s)!?

So that means if Phil, Kobe, Gary, and Karl leave, Shaq goes on the IL for 2-3 months again, and the team plummets into the lottery in 2005, you're still a Lakers fan right? Riiiighhhttt? =)

I picked the pistons to win the championship in my office pool before the playoffs even began. before the finals my coworkers were telling me "Lakers are gonna sweep the pistons" and "any team in the west would sweep the pistons" and "how are the pistons gonna beat LA scoring only 80 points?" .. riiight. i told them the pistons are the only team in the east that could take ANY of the west teams. and they would hold the lakers to under 80 points every game. they are deeper and more talented than the lakers as a team. they just laughed.. look who's laughing now? muaHahAhahaHaHaHAHAAhsHAAHaHAhahahahaAHAhahah!

Oh, I read this thinking you were talking about the current series. I was gonna remind you that the Lakers havent rocked blue and red unies since their days back in Minnesota or wherever the hell they came from
