the lakers suck, bummer, i guess the dynasty is finally over!!!!!! detroit with darko could be unstopable

 

I can admit I am a lakers fan first. But I like all my california teams..big warriors fan..guess I am a bandwagon warriors fan from the Run TMC days..haaaaa. but born lakers fan.

I can also admit that I am pretty surprised they lost. But I did say from the biginning that if the lakers didn't play as a team and let detroit stay in games it would be over and before game three I told my room mate the winner of that game wins it all.

I am happy though that a team won...empasis on team. Not a PLAYER. For so many years it's been the player or the 2 players surrounded by jokers winning. the lakers (Kobe/Shaq). Chicago (pippen/Jordan). San Antonio(duncan). For once it was a team effort. I mean everybody through down in that series. And I am happy for R.Wallace. Always been a fan. Good for him. He gutted out a hell of a series...a hell of a post season with a foot injury and what not. And I am a big fan of guys like Ben Wallace. Guys that just play it tough. Love those guys. Like Mark Madsen...love that guy. Jermaine Oneal. Guys like that. Just shut up and play.

The lakers lost because Kobe thought he had to win it all by himself and their "guru" coach didn't say any different. The ball should have got pounded with shaq and driven by kobe and george. Not jump shot after jump shot. Jump shooting teams don't win championships..never have. Look at the wolves..even back to Ray Allen and what not. Look at the Pacers this year. Great players. Good teams. no *****.

 

what a series. let me address some things:

1. there is nothing wrong in cheering for a team that woops that the crap out of my nemesis. I dont watch baseball, but if the Boston Red Sox beat the Yankees I would be stoked. Well, the Lakers are akin to the Yankees, so watching them choke repeatedly in the spotlight is epic IMO.

2. the lakers dont get my respect for the aforementioned reasons (posted by Army). if they were simply a great team, i am sure that i would at least respect them. but they have basically brought together a bunch of egototistical punks. i used to like phil, but come on... with Kobe and Shaq on the team who wouldnt win? Now watch, he is going to go to the Cavaliers....

3. the whole lakers bad-boy image is super lame. dudes roll around Sac thinking they are all hard cause they are representing with Lakers fans. i know i cant blame this on the lakers themselves, but it still irks me

BTW, uber props to the Pistons for showing the D and team ball are paramount to success. true throwback team to the days of lore. i am glad for larry brown (but admittedly bummed for AI who I think deserves a championship as much as anyone else)

As for AI...I am right there with you. My room mate is a big philly fan. We were talking about what they need to get competitive or where he needs to go to win.

We were saying he needs a decent big man and a good ball handling guard to drive and dish too. Or one that can drive and dish to him...we came up with this...I know kobe showed how greedy he can be this series but Kobe on the sixers might actually make sense. he's from there. He can do what AI needs and going to philly he would be THE man. It would still be AI so it would be an ego check and the two guys know for throwing up 25plus shots a game will be forced to both drop down and shoot 15-25 instead of 20-30.

And if they bring in even a half way decent big man.....like say.....dampier they might be competitive.

otherwise AI needs to get himself onto a team like the lakers as they destruct this off season. but that won't happen. I think he's stayin in philly.

 

I don't think anybody is "basking" in the PISTONS accomplishment and glory insomuchas just laughing at the egotistical Lakers.

 

We're not glad the Pistons won, we're glad the Lakers LOST! I'll guarantee you that far more people were celebrating the Lakers' demise than the Pistons' victory.

I thought it was funny that the only Laker they could get to talk after the game was Fischer. This pretty much means kobe, shack, phil, karl, and gary refused. -figures...

And CLSmooth, you sound a little bitter... I knew you couldn't lose graciously either.

it's too bad, mussleman wasnt given another couple more years.

but hey, monty has a good track record. let's just hope he doesnt fall into the same mindset other successful college coaches who jump over to the nba...

Im a kings fan and after the Kings lost I could have cared less who beat the lakers as long as it was someone. Im not basking in anyones accomplishment or glory, but rather in the demise of the lakers. I cant wait to see Shaq stuck with a horrible team who will struggle to make the playoffs for the next 2 years.
