Like I said, just saw a Limited (dark grey) Sti being towed on 2 wheels (plate #5J??343) down Harrison St in San Francisco. At 1:40pm today.
May have just been an 06-07 WRX but pretty sure I saw the black Brembos as it rolled by... with alarm going off too.
I tried to get a photo but my iphone wouldnt boot up fast enough. Will gladly come forward as a witness of damages if needed.

Parked on Ellis next to Market St in a loading zone(yes i know). Ran into Oakley, which is literally around the corner, to see if I could exchange some shades I got. Lady told me I had to talk to the company directly. That was that. Ran back to my car and poof! It was gone. 5 minutes MAX. They didn't even write down my vin# they took it away so quickly. Only reason I parked there b/c it was literally right next to the store and knew I was only going to be a second. No one to blame but myself but holy sh*t I'm upset

cab ride to tow lot, $12
tow fee, $327.75
parking ticket, $70
knowing you can get your car towed in under 5 minutes in downtown sf?
priceless

Damn, sorry to hear.... hopefully the towing company can reimburse/help to reimburse you for any damage caused. I would try to resolve this first with the towing company, if that doesnt get you anywhere, contact an attorney to see what can be done. Just because you parked somewhere you weren't supposed to doesnt take them off the hook for destroying your car.

F@*K this was me! they told me it was flatbeded! its my '06 wrx. towed in under 5 minutes. not a repo! and it was towed with the rear wheels on the ground? omg i'm going to have a heart attack. they towed it so quickly the tow company didnt have a record of it till i got there. called the police and they told me let me know what happened.
And since when does SF tow for being in a loading zone? That's unheard of.

Was it a passenger (white) or commercial (yellow) loading zone?

and yes... now is your chance to say to a government agency, "ignorance is not an excuse..."

I would hope that they would be liable for damages caused by accidents/negligence during the towing process. For example, if they lifted the car onto a flat-bed, but didn't secure it correctly and it fell onto another vehicle while they were driving away, surely this would be at their expense?

PS: I asked 2 cops and they both said that it's up to the tow company to tow correctly. I even brought up the issue of a car being park during an emergency and the area is needed (IE: fire truck needs a spot). The both said that if it were that situation the fire truck would just bust the windows and work through the car or the cops would work around it and it would be the owners fault at that point. But once the tow company takes it, it's up to them.
Looks like you are getting a new drive train, maybe a law suit and an STi
haha, one of my customers just had to call a tow truck to get in his car, haha. I asked the drive, he said that even none flat bed trucks have dollys to help them tow all wheel drive cars. If they don't use them they are liable for the damage. He said he's been doing it 15 years and didn't hesitate to answer.
Good luck man, sorry for post Wh***eing the thread.
