Just a heads up, E85 is about to get alot more expensive..
kinda glad i didn't go down the e85 route now, but this sucks as I believe everyone was hoping and dreaming that e85 availability in California would increase not decrease/vanish in the future. back to the drawing board for some of us now.
Maybe they'll finally put our tax dollars to something that actually has a chance of helping instead of something that was said to be a failure even before they finalized it.

Im def not an E85 convert, but the biggest point that people seem to forget about ethanol is its a renewable resource while oil is a finite resource and will ALWAYS get more expensive, its completely shortsighted to compare them on their costs as of today, does nobody remember 2008?? You guys see how many cars china and india have put on the road and are planning to put on the road in the next few years? Not to mention we dont have to rely on imports from politically unstable areas, seriously, how bad is ethanol going to look if gas is $10 a gallon 5 years from now and is being rationed like it was in the 70s?
And as far as the whole argument about how much energy it takes to make E85, well its not likethe gasoline grows out of the gas station folks, they never seem to mention how much energy it takes to build giant oil rigs in the ocean or on the other side of the planet to suck it out from thousands of feet and ship it in a tanker, be refined, then truck to the gas stations. Yes Im sure it still is less than ethanol, but oil has had over a century of infrastructure built up around it, so of course its going to be cheaper for them than it is for the comparatively tiny ethanol industry, but that would all change the more people used it.
Oh and subsides? Because yeah, the oil company doesnt get any subsidies lol
Turn Off the Oil Subsidy Spigot
Long story short, I agree that E85 is far from perfect, but if you can think of a better renewable fuel that can replace gasoline with the least amount of change to how automakers build cars. I would like to hear it.

Seeings how most of you are turbo'd and such why don't you run Natural gas or propane? Hell they make conversion kits, you could run propane and have an octane ratting of like 105.
Edit*
Not as high as I thought it's only 105 I figured it to be around 120+ would still net a lot more power without worry of detonation for you power heads.

Its all about demand. And if demand falls off ..... Its gone. I am not sure there is enough people out there to keep it going. Yeah yeah its a flex fuel for GM and what not. But 90% of those owners have a flex fuel car for the green name plate or they thought they could drive in the carpool lane. They can't be slowed down in heading to the local mall because they have to seek out a e85 gas station. Those people still run 87oct and will not be around to put up a fight to keep it unless the rally is at Starbucks.

e85 is some what ok to put into any car as long as its been set up for it.. But if you get caught filling up your street car with race fuel you could get busted. You guys remember that law that went into effect about race fuel in street cars? About how they have to get all the stupid info about you and your car before you could sell it. I have yet to run into any of this. But it was a law and its out there. Just be careful when and where you fill up at.
