Issues between Capitol/Stevens Creek Subaru
Was this issue ever resolved?
Current status?
I live down the street from Stevens Creek Subaru.
DO NOT take your vehicle there. If you live nearby and you need a bolt or clip quickly or something...fine, mention i-club whatever.
But this is my/my buddy's story:
Friend of mine bought an 04 STI with about 30k on it a few years back in Minnesota and then moved out to Cali. His factory STI struts were making noise and he took it in to get checked out. Sometime within the next day or so we're in his garage and he gets a call from his father asking in a disapproving tone why he's doing 90mph flatout down Stevens Creek. He replies "I'm at home...".
As you may have realized by now, the nice techs at Stevens Creek Subaru decided to take his car out for a little joy ride. This alone spells shady to me.
On top of that, I've had countless bad experiences with the sales people; Arguments because they don't know jack squat about Subaru's (cars in general really), rude approaches, and overall sleezy demeanor.
Capitol seems a little better, but from all the Subaru loyalists that I know, I've never heard anything bad about Carlsen. So why take the chance?
I wouldn't even take my car to Stevens Creek for a damn recall issue.

how did he explain the problem? Did he say something along the lines of "my struts clunk when i hit a bump at high speed?"
Did his father have a radar gun?
I personally know a couple techs over at the creek and and I know that they have more character than to do something like that.. they don't need to joyride an 04 STi when half of them have their own fun cars to drive. If a customer says that they have a problem with their car when they do 'x problem,' then they will try to re-create the problem...

I rarely go on I-club. I use the forums, Nasioc, RS25 and I-club to buy ****. What does my amount of posts have to do with ANYTHING?
I PM when I need to communicate. Figured I'd bring more accuracy to the dealership debacle by increasing the sample size by 1.
I've personally owned a Subaru for 4 years. Family still has a 90 Legacy and a 2001 RS as well. Ties to Renner Motorsports. 2 Widebodies anyone?
But HEY you won the internets bro! UBER POSTS FTW! Go sit the ***c down. Regardless of my all important post quantity, I've owned a Subaru, dealt with Stevens Creek, had 4 family members and 3 friends witness or fall victim of their horrible service, and nothing will change how crappy/shady/sleezy they are.
Nuff said.

well there are 2 sides to every story right?

As I said in my post, EVEN if his father overestimated by 10-15mph, which is a fairly large margin and I doubt he did, they were still flying down a heavily populated roadway well over the limit. Enough for him to call his son and get angry...his wife topped out the same STI on the salt flats. I don't think this guy has a problem with speed. Just speed on residential streets.
You are so right man. It makes no sense. He did NOT say they made noise at highspeed. In fact, it was a low speed clunk. Nice of you to help me clarify that. And I also have seen all of their cars. We go over there and eat at Arby's all the time and walk to the dealership to see if one of the idiot sales people will try to argue that a catless Subaru is going to pass smog again. So again, not a good dealership. This particular incedent was over a year ago mind you. So you may know different techs. I am also good friends with a tech at an east bay subaru dealership whom I met through another Subaru enthusiast. Guess where he transferred from because he could not stand the conduct? You get one try...
'Did he say something along the lines of "my struts clunk when i hit a bump at high speed?"'
Dude come on. Test it on the freakin highway then...are you dumb? Not a valid excuse.

I am going to say that my problem, at least with Capitol Subaru, has been resolved, they made good on their original promises, though it took some pushing.
I will not take my car to Stevens Creek, period.

Parts dept is a different story.
additionally, people also need to write good reviews about a place. everyone knows that people will only write bad reviews about places; people rarely write good reviews...
It's attitudes like this, when there's legit criticism, that will not allow Steven's Creek to become a better dealership. Even recently after Steven's Creek is "way better" I still would rather look elsewhere for buying a car because of the attitude of the salespeople when I was test driving a WRX for a friend (he didn't know how to drive stick at the time). You need to stop taking the criticism so personally and realize how bad Steven's Creek reputation was, it's going to be a long process to fix it, and your salesmen aren't helping.

I do have to say that Ryan (Unit91) was by far the most knowledgeable parts department person I have met. Actually focused on helping me make the correct decision rather than make a quick sale.
I will go back for parts, but I will not take my car there.
