Yeah they do, and they charge you just to look at the car, even if you drive in and point to the problem, they still have to do a diagnostic. Warranty Repair work is covered, diagnostic fees are not. Its called dealers paying for overhead.

In all my experiences, other than recall stuff, I've always had to pay for diagnostics, but then when they confirm something is wrong, its not charged to me. This is to cover the dealership in case nothing is wrong and warranty doesn't reimburse for diagnostic time.

That is exactly what was explained to me. There would be a $185 fee for the eval, then $35/day for the loaner car. If the problem was to be repaired under warranty, the $185+$35 would be 100% covered by warranty.

That's how stealerships make money. for example:
If you buy a Notebook and there is a problem, you take it to Bestbuy for the tech to look at it, even though it was your fault that the issue is you turning off the wireless switch, the MFGW covers the Diagnostics.
Should be the same with cars, but Mitsu/Suby warrantys are like Unicorn Tears

So I took the car to GST Motorsports today, Mike checked out the engine and said everything seems to be running normal, compression looks okay, as far as Mike could tell, the engine was running fine. He did note that there was a missing heat shield on the downpipe, and that the car appeared to be mated to a Cobb Accessport still.

I want to give a big thanks to Mike and GST for inspecting the car for free! I really appreciate it and would highly recommend GST, they seem to be a great shop and Mike really seemed to know what he was doing.

Must be some type of hickup on Capitols part. I've dealt with them in the past, and recently w/ the parts department, and Justin... all stand up in my book.

Stevens Creek Subaru on the other hand... I only go there if I absolu.... actually, I don't go there AT ALL.

Mention i-club @ Capitol Subie, and get 10% off parts.

i think someone forgot to mention that it had a cold air intake and the maf sensor wasnt plugged in all the way... would be nice if we had the full story so that people wouldnt bash on the wrong dealership...

It had a stock intake, and the connector wasn't plugged in all the way...

Those are smoking guns for a Stage 2 modded anything. If that's the condition in which you purchased this car, I would be at Capitol's door first thing in the morning demanding my money back, with an SOA rep on the phone as well.

Also of note is how sloppy their 'Certified Pre Owned' program must be, if this car was truly certified with an AP mate and DP heat shield missing. Even checking the ECU to make sure the stop-sale reflash had been performed would have shown that this was still mated to an AP. And we all know that AP = warranty no bueno.

So, which base map does it have? Could be a important question when your battery get disconnect and back on. Because it will revert back to it's base map from what appear to be either stock or stage I map that it's currently running.

I think I saw your car 2 - 3 weeks ago sitting in the lot. White on gold bbs, the exhaust is carbon fiber with stainless tip? Nice ride! Anyway looks like you missed my buddies post about them selling cars with out safety equipment. They sold me an 06 STI missing the front bumper beam. I knew it was modded & had been put back to stock, just noticed it was missing the beam about 2 years later.

Anyway long story short they are douche bags & dont know how to treat a customer. The whole time I was there arguing over the bumper the sales & service department kept bouncing me back & forth saying "go talk to this guy... go talk to that guy." It was like dealing with two different companies. At one point some Erik Estrada look alike, Richard I think his name was told me " you might as well be talking to the wall, until someone tells me to fix it I cant help you." I had to leave after that or someone would be missing some teeth right about now.

Justin is a liar I know for a fact. I can go on & on about it but I wont bore you. Dont sign any new contracts thats some straight up BS. You should be able to get warranty work at any Suby dealer. What if you move? Do they expect you do drive to them all the time? I heard bad things about Stevens Creek but no personal experiences. If you want your money back & they wont budge contact Subaru of America, im sure they would like to know how their product is being represented. Good luck man I know what your going through.
