one year doesnt do anything for accidents, it takes 3 eyars for it to clear completely, which is when you will see a drop. YOu also get better rates depending on your job

I get a 15% discount for being an engineer

Really? I thought my agent said something about increments of years until it's totally cleared by 3 years...I might have misunderstood.

I should ask if they'll give me a discount for being a research assistant...

I'm getting screwed:

age: 26
record: clean
company: esurance
car: 05 STI
rate: $180/month (2160/year)

A lot of you seem to be on your parent's plans still. I wish I could do that, but being 26 and having the loan in my name doesn't help. I checked everywhere for prices, and with a $500 deductable $172 was the best I found per month, but I needed to pay a year in advance so I went with esurance which lets me pay every month.

Insurance is the biggest rippoff ever. I wish I had an extra $25k to deposit with the DMV so I could be self insured. At $180 a month I'd be making 8.64% a year on that deposit.
