I'm out of car insurance by May! No joke!
I say do that before you do anything that is related to cars from now on.

Now, I didn't read what everybody else wrote. But if you do decide not to drive the car, just sell it. Car is not like a property, car will only depreciate. Good luck and hope things turn out to be okay for you.

sell the car. get a beater and recover from this mistake. if you keep the wrx and get minimum insurance, you will get in more trouble. even though you said you learned your lesson, getting minimum insurance is an easy way out and you truly will not learn the tough life lesson.
there are other things to consider, minimum insurance will cost you a fair amount since you are 20 and drive a wrx. and if you get in an accident, how will you pay for your repairs?
get a beater, take the money that is saved and do something with it. go to school, save it, invest. in a couple of years you will be way ahead vs. keeping the car. storing the car is stupidest thing you could do.
good luck. remember it's just a car, a beater or a wrx will get you from A to B.

Sigh.. everyone is telling me to sell the car. Damn, it's going to be unbelievably hard letting go. I'm tossing and turning from all of it. I'm going to have to talk to my parents about that as well since they paid for it and technically own the car.
The thing is, I was really hoping I would make a miracle happen and never ever need to sell the car in my entire life. Such as even if it's old and worn out, it would be my "restoration car" for the long years ahead...just for the hell of it. *Knock on wood* push comes to shove, I'll run it till it's died out and then see what I'll do with it such as donating, etc. Who knows down the line.. Of course I know this is illogical and impractical, but like I said.. it's got a lot of sentimental value. I wasn't going to sell the car, but maybe it's necessary and it's time.
I know for certain I won't have an equivalent or better car just cause of my money situation for the long run. However, I take responsibility for my actions... Therefore, I must cut my losses.
I guess I can try reasoning with the judge again, however, he was very hard on me and slammed me with punishments. I don't think he's much of a compromiser, but it's worth a shot.
By the way, I do pray! I pray A LOT! LoL I will continue it of course... I pray for hope upon my soul and my fellow i-clubbers

I felt that way once too, but really life's too short to spend it with one car.
there will be other cars that will come your way, and you really should consider spending some time with one that doesn't like to get in trouble so much.
besides who knows if we'll even be able to get gasoline in 3 years?

Pete is absolutely right! I had an 01 RS, loved it, raced it, sold it. I then got an 02 RS, loved it, raced it, killed a deer with it, sold it. I now have a 98 protege, hate it, can't race with it, and most likely a deer could kill it, but it gets me from A to B. I am only 24, and I am on my third car already. And NO one helped me with any of them in any way. And just remember, car is not everything, there are other things in life.
Again, good luck with your situation.

LoL! Who said anything of just having one car? I plan on making it rich and being made someday and have my "arsenal" ready for deployment. Someday at least... DON'T KILL MY DREAMS! I actually had a dream of a personal hanger garage of mine with 5 main realistically acheivable cars: my WRX, an Elise, a Corvette Z06, and a 911 GT2 (maybe the last one is a bit on the tougher side to get.. DDDUUURRR). Ah yes, dreams are pleasant! Now if I can only make it come true... hahaha
Yeah, I realized this car has gotten me in a lot of trouble. However, it's me that needs fixing... a car is just a car right? It doesn't brainwash you into driving it so fast. It's my mind that needs to stop pushing to speed. I need to discipline myself, have some self control, and a smack of common sense to not do something this stupid ever again.
In 3 years, we just might not have gas. It's a long shot, but apparently anything can happen in this world. It would be so kewl to have a car that would be considered an antique though! I'm just saying! LoL
I know my situation, believe me.. however, can I still have a car I could play with and mod? Lets say a 1st generation Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS GC8 slant eyes one? I always loved that generation and think it even looks better than the bugeyes or crosseyes IMHO. If it wasn't for the WRX debuting, I would've probably gotten that. Could there be a chance in that?

Its up to you man, we're just pointing out that non-performance cars are cheaper to insure, and any car that can't go fast enough to win a drag race probably isn't going to get drawn in into any-
That side of it is what you need to work on, but you seem to have pretty good self awareness, so go do what ever you can afford

Yeah I definately see that. I'm now pondering to help my parents out after all the torment and grief I've caused them, sell my WRX, and use that money to go buy a Toyota Prius Hybrid for my mom that she's been wanting to have.
I'll be totally being unselfish and not stubborn about it. Just a thought... still gotta talk to my mom.
I realize a 2.5 RS would still be a fork up my ***. Just a bit smaller, but still a fork up my *** to say the least.

What kind of car(s) do your parents drive? Maybe you could trade your wrx with theirs, and tweak the insurance around a bit by doing so, insurance for an old car might be cheaper than a brand new prius (not sure). That way, you get to keep you car too.

Well here's the thing, my parents are divorced. My dad lives lavishly in luxury in Cupertino with a $1.4 million dollar house... not too shabby I might say. He drives an old 190 E benz, a brand new ML benz, and my older sister has a Volvo S40 that's under his insurance.
I'm with my mom, however, scrapes every penny she can get unfortunately and lives in San Francisco, but on a different property from mine. She drives a Toyota Sienna van, a Dodge Shadow, and my WRX is under her.
Also, I'd like to add that my younger sister is about to drive and she'll die if she doesn't get her IS300. Yes, my dad is willing to buy it for her too.
Don't know who's insurance she would go under though.

Cause he's one of the most devious, smartest , cheapest, and most immoral persons I know and yes, I'm not just saying that. I'm being serious here.
He knows I'm a 20 year old male which means more $$$$$ and he barely even pays for anything for us, the children. We're touching sensitive personal subjects here sorry to say. There's a lot of family bloodshed, I'll just say that much.
Oh yeah, also cause of what has happened with me and my insurance, it would be suicide for him to put me on his insurance or paying for it as in handing me money to pay. He won't do it and I'll be biting shares off my sisters and I don't need them against me as well.

..but other then that be careful with the hitching rides with friends...i got in an accident about 2 years ago and had to find my way around for about a year and well lets just say you dont really want to strain your friendships by always hitching a ride from them, it gets old real quick...trust me i have been the one asking and the one giving the rides too....hahaha i'd keep the wrx cuz sooner or later you will be able to afford the insurance and get your own policy, but thats totally up to you and your finances...good lucks mang
