I would hate to mess with gearing not knowing how it would turn out then be screwed with crappy highway MPG
My RS is 4000 rpms at around 90 so cruising im aroun 3500 which isnt too bad, i dont know why they dont make it more like 2000 rpms, unless youre a midnight tokyo highway racer
