It would take almost or more what it costs for an STi to fix up your wagon and bring it on even territory. With that said, go with what you can afford.

Take a 25k wagon and another $4k in engine mods, $2k in suspension, $1k rims/tire.. Dont forget adding a 6 speed, and other cool features that the STi already has stock...

Bah get an STi

For performance alone, go with what teiva-boy said. The STi comes stock with what lots of work and MORE cash will cost on the WRX.

However, if you enjoy the upgrade process (A LOT) then keep the WRX and GO CRAZY.

I'd have a dilema, too. I think I would stay with the WRX. Of course, I have my "**** IT" days, too.

So is Schuman sticking with their policy of selling cars at sticker? Have they told you they would, or is it a guessing game until you go to pick it up? Curious to know...

My plan is to continue with my WRX. I've got a buttload of money in it already, but fact is, I'm not done. Almost, but I want to round off the rough edges.

Then I'm thinking about getting a beater Volvo or Yugo and see if I can drop it into the 10's as a daily driver rally car formula one.

I hope to buy the 2005 or 2006 STI. I figure that it will still be fast by then.

A hopped up WRX vs. a STi?

No question in my book. Why?

Why did you buy your M3 vs. a 330ci?

Why does anybody buy a Z06 over a base C5?

Why the '03 Cobra over a GT?

When I was younger I thought it was cool that my '94 Mustang GT was as fast as a stock Porsche 911 Turbo for MUCH less. Now I only wish I had enough $ to buy the Porsche!

I could build a Mustang that will outperform a Ferarri F355... Would I, if I could afford the Ferrari? HELL NO!

I absolutely disagree with this statement for the most part, but in this context I see what Mitch is trying to say.

There's a lot more to the STi than it's straight line performance, that's for sure!

.... and good luck in trying to sell your WRX for jack ....

... WRX's don't sell too well on this island. The one used one I know that got sold, ... was bought by someone who was moving from the mainland.

Given your recent adventures with the UTEC... I guess there are some exceptions to said 'fools'
