This is an excellent question that causes a great deal of controversy. After the reality of multiple worlds sank into our collective thought, the one basic change to all religious dogma is the concept that good and evil does not exist as an organized force in our lives nor can it be used as a useful way to judge what God may think of a situation. Good and evil are personal experiences that can only guide what we do as individuals and how we relate to others. This outlook also makes it impossible for me to judge any other person or event. We cannot see the entire universe as God sees it therefore we will never be Gods or be capable of judging anything outside of ourselves. My actions can only be judged as good and bad by me and my God.
There is also an area of thought that maintains all of the “yous” out there will make up the “you” that eventually returns to God. In that manner, it is frustrating to know that you are capable of and acting on all of the thoughts and ideas you have regardless of what the “you” here is doing. How good or evil do you think you can be?
There is even an idea (supported in physics apparently but I have a hard time with this one) that there is some sort of communication going on between all of the “yous” that are out there. The big issue of this, Einstein's "world lines" and the human capability to harness energy.
World lines basically show that when time is mapped in a Cartesian manner, there are parts of each quadrant which time cannot go. While time may not be straight, it cannot hit particular parts which indicate time past. There is mathematical inference that time can loop, out of Einstiens own equations, but the causality problems of looping are so obnoxious that history would virtually disintigrate into a mishmash of temporal interconnectedness that would be readily appearant and inescapable once started. That is, we would be aware that time travel already existed and affected everything. And we'd be scared ishless.
The second problem is energy. We are what its called a "Type 0" civilization. We have not even harnessed enery on a global scale. Yeah we've learned a little about atoms and mass->energy reactions. And we can burn fossil fuels like nobodies business. But when a we harness and control the geothermal energy on a global scale we will be a Type 1 civilization. The human race is predicted to be a couple of hundred years away from that and it's still not enough energy for time travel. A Type 2 civilization is one which can harness and control the energy of the sun. Not solar energy, but direct use. This is like the Star Trek universe... a civilization that has begun to manipulate gravity, plays with space-time a bit and has a good knowledge of matter-energy. Colonization of nearby startsystems is a reality by this time. To be able to harness, influence and control gravity and use it productively might be enough to support the energetic needs of time travel. We're maybe 1000 years away from that, at a minimum. There's a 3rd stage but there's no need to get into it now. The point is, if this guy is from just a couple of hundred years in the future I highly doubt he's from a time that has created methods for time travel that might send a human being back, let alone something the size of a craft.
I would bet my money that this was a hoax that was created after the fact with all the cooking and design. And as the hoax grows it incorporates new information that contain current events which make it look like it was prophectic. There are NO SOURCES that confirm that any future-telling was from this specific person. And everyone says that everyone says that someone said that this time traveller type over the Internet... and is there a bigger forum for bullish than the Internet? How incredibly stupid, "I came back in time to chat on the Internet so I can start some rumours". It would be more plausible if he said, "There is no **** in the future so I came back in time to get some cuz I'm really hard up".

You make some good points, but correct me if I'm wrong here for a civil war to occur would there not have to be two seperate governments in place fighting for power over one another with two seperate agendas like for example the Constitution and the Articles of the Confederation. Basicly what intrests me in this whole story is how the story is told, and the actual story it self. It mirrors and amplifies alot of social issues of our time and portrays what they may end up as.
As far as civil war goes if you ask me it realy wont take much more for that to start, ESP since bushie has signed into law all sorts of whack *** laws that erode our rights as people. And **** on the constituion in non descret ways.
That coupled with people who will actually DEFEND their rights as stated in the constituion (along with those who dont understand anything more then "they said we can have guns, so im gonna get a 30mm mini gun for my jeep" types). I know for one that many on this board have been sworn to protect the constituion agenst foreign and DOMESTIC threats. Seen in that light you may or may not choose to believe that the largest threat to the constitution is in fact domestic. This whole mindset of the evil magical disapearing terroists are going to kill us all is complete bull****. Since the US has never really had to deal with any sort of insurgency we have bought into the notion that these people (the bad guys) are out to destroy everyone on the face of the earth. Which is in fact wrong they are out to destroy our political system. Just so happens they feel that the best way to do that is by attacking the citezens of the nation so that WE (the citizens) will rise up against our leaders. That and of course even many of us feel that our policies regarding the rest of hte world are a be 1890ish.
Anyways that is my rant the purpose of which was to show that civil war is never far around the corner ESP given the recent clamping down of the goverment on our rights and privacy (which WILL aid them in the apprehension and destruction of terroists among us, just sucks that those in power are the ones who say who is a terroist and who isnt). Which is a power that will be abused (hope not) in TIME. Give man ultimate power and it WILL CORRUPT.
Hell even Gen Tommy franks thinks that all it would take to decendh te US into martial law OFFICALY would be one LARGE terroists attack (nuke, bio, or other). And he was the guy in charge of the damn war against terror.
Go figure.
Anyways my words to everyone are pull your head out of your collective american asses and take a look around at the world that is uncomrpimised by american pride, american media, and most of all your emotions.

Even if it was true my biggest qualm is this.
He stated that he is off course of his time line by 2.5%. Given that he himself stated that multiverses do exists that means that there is infinite possible wordlines hecould have come across. And as you all know inifnity is infinite so how in the hell can you come up with a 2.5% divergence form anything if what your comparing to (baseline for this case would be his world line) is infinite.
Whoopsies tactical error in story telling.
That and a few other things make me think its a helluva fake. But still intresting none the less the whold Mad cow thing has got me thinking (some scientists just found an enzyme that breaks mad cow down).

I just got finished reading the links that have been posted since my last look at this thread.......

Either way, this could be taken as a major wake up call, esp after reading the link on the Peak Oil.....that's true too.....its like 2 major disasters are getting ready to knock on Earths door pretty quick here.....The worlds supply of Oil running out, and the collapse of the USA as we know it, thus causing the "civil war" that has been mentioned a few times now.
I am feeling kinda weird now...its a scary subject that really makes you think about everyone/everything that is precious to you, or things that are so "normal" in your everyday life, that they are taken for granted....but what would happen if some of those things were gone forever....
Our civil liberties ARE slowly being stripped away from us day by day, and the citizens of the US are getting more pissed off with each new "law" that is passed....a revolution is completely feasable, and a resulting civil war between those that are willing to let the gov't rule every aspect of their lives, and those that are willing to take a stand and take back the rights that our gov't has stripped from us and were given to us by our constitution.
And thats only the half of it......what happens when the worlds supply of oil does dry up? That is something that is inevitable...and its 100% true that just about every aspect of society as we know it depends on oil in one way or another....thats some serious isht....oil will be more precious than Gold or Diamonds...and people will be willing to fight/kill/steal for control of any that may be floating around.
Then there's all out nuclear war.....and the fallout thereafter....
