Damn that looks crazy. So they went wide, hit the gravel on the right, over corrected, went back on the road and caught traction at a bad angle and went off the other side? It actually looks like there were some decent shoulders on that road that would allow for a recovery.

More-so what pisses me off, is *******s like this make our insurance go up.
For self-inflicted accidents, there should be a law.
Thou shall not make an insurance claim due to street racer speed freak touge racing wangan drift king.
Seriously, why should everyone else pay a higher premium because they were racing on the road.
They are lucky i cant make out their license plates otherwise i would have reported them.

But they weren't racing, rather- the blue car (and I expect nearly everyone else on this "drive") was doing the most unsafe thing that nearly every driver in this country does- way too often- following too closely.
Yeah the track "expert" found out the hard way that the sand traps in the desert are not as forgiving as the sides of Pahrump's raceway, but the blue guy had no business being there at all.
In a TSD rally he'd have been a minute behind, and trying to maintain an average speed that wouldn't have tossed the first car into the sagebrush.
In a "group drive" the leaded gets pushed by whoever is behind him, in this case beyond his skill apparently, and a false sense of security comes to everyone in the train- all wrapped up in a red mist.
I'm glad they were all ok. I was worried. That cliff keeps getting bigger everytime people talk about it. I'm 5'6'' and could almost see over the top edge. I'd say it was about 6 feet.
As far as driving like *******s, yes it was above the speed limit but not by that much. The way the turn is there and the hitch as you crest the hill, if you aren't set up right coming out of the previous turn, it wouldn't be hard to loose it.
A number of people had just made it past there with no problems.

ya, it was the first group drive i've ever been on with a group of subaru's and i've done quite a few some time ago, with integra's. but i was normally in charge of those ones and we never allowed any speeding or anything. I was just a passenger with my friend on this one, and apparently last time they had a group drive it was more controlled. It was wierd cause the "leader" and a few other cars that were in front of them, just kept going and never came back...that's fcked up i think. anyways the picture doesnt show but the ground is really sloped away from the road quite a bit off to the right side
