how not to have a good group drive

well long story short, i was in vegas this weekend for a group drive and also to party. so today (sunday) we had a drive to death valley. here are some pics of how NOT to drive when ur on a group drive.

here is a link to the white car's owner's response...
http://flat4lv.com/smf/index.php/topic,20875.0.html

what happened from my perspective...someone with a little bit of accident investigation knowledge:

white sti went wide in the middle of the turn, hit gravel on outside edge. went further off and the blue car behind him was traveling closely...both at high speed. blue car went off road completely on right hand side to avoid hitting the white car. both ended up going back over the road, blue car rolled. white car went end over end off the drop. that ledge was a good 9+ ft where they went off.

so i'd just like to remind everyone, please drive carefully. even if u think you are the best driver cause you have driven on race tracks etc (supposibly the guy with the white car is an "experienced" track enthusiast) that does not mean you can drive like a race track on the streets..

check out the passenger seat on the bride, she had it reclined partly, but it's twisted, the pic doesnt do it justice. just remember that aftermarket seats (especially knock offs) are more fragile than the stock ones.

alas here are the pics:
BEFORE:

PICS HAVE BEEN REMOVED.....I didnt post them to talk **** on them, but only to show to others what can happen regardless of conditions.

Wow glad no one was in critical condition, that could have been MUCH worse than it was with a drop like that off the side of the road.

yup, the track is a controlled environment, thats why you can drive like you are on a TRACK. not like you are on a road. i'd never drive or ride on the street like i do on the track.

yes glad no one is critically hurt. i always thought that aftermarket seats were stronger than factory seats, esp. FIA approved ones.

IIRC, DOT approval is far more demanding than FIA approval. FIA doesnt conduct or outline crash testing for seat, in a race car your harness and cage are far more important to your saftey than the seat shell, so they approve seats based on different criteria. As far as I know Recaros (and not all of them) are the only seats that have DOT approval.

there's a reason they call it Death Valley....
Sucks for them. Glad they are alright though.

Love this line "Any help for Juan and I to help pay for any insurance or medical coverages would be greatly appreciated,"
