Just dont get discouraged if you dont pick it up quick. Have some advil handy for when you start falling. It works wonders for a hard fall. Just have fun!

Also, pray that the snow isn't icy.
I should be saying this, but just for some humor:
Bring some alcohol, get your gf wasted, then take advantage of her.

1) go for steep greens or light blues. bunny slopes will kill you. You don't get enough speed on the bunny slopes to learn how to stay on an edge.
2) wear a helment and go limp when you fall, don't try to stop the fall with your wrists...you'll hurt.
3) crouch like you're a chick pee-ing in a public restroom and don't want to sit on the seat. that's where you'll get your control.

Your front foot is your pivot point, steer with your rear foot
Move your upper half of your body OPPOSITE of your rear foot (until you understand) It will keep you going straight while carving, if you want to scrub speed.
and pretend like your buttering a piece of soft white bread, DONT MAKE A HOLE IN THE BREAD!

wear a pillow on your ***. And be prepared to be sitting 80% of the day. And more speed = more balance. Get used to feeling your edges. And don't worry about not getting ur heal edge at first, that will come with time.

and yes you still butter the bread aka dont catch an edge
and when it clicked for me is when someone told me to keep my front foot a pivot (keep it on one axis) and rotate your rear foot to steer. like a graphing compass you shank people with in high school lol

LOL when you butter bread with the SHARP EDGE towards the SOFT BREAD it "catches the edge"...you ruin your bread by poking a hole in it, (this is when you catch and edge and fall on your snowboard and go ouch)
How about putting frosting on a cake, that sounds better now that i think about it.
Its just a way to tell beginners to keep your edges up
you want the snow to go under your board, not over it, because thats when you dig in and fall.
what people have to realize is how a snow board turns.. theres a reason boards have a skinnier waist than at each end, because the board flexes and makes a smooth curve, thats why speed boards are straighter (little waist) and why park boards have a skinny waist or a bigger curve to turn faster.
If i could be of any more help, put the snowboard on some carpet in a big room, tilt it 45' on heel or toe side...then apply pressure so that the edge is flat with the carpet...the board will now have pressure on it, and as you push it straight...it will turn
Anyone who has spent a day on the mtn with a numb butt will appreciate this info, your wallet will to.
yeah dont go for one day because you will be depressed.

Its all about center of gravity (when i say move your upper body oposite your rear foot)
That is why when we walk, our right leg moves forward as our right arm moves back
OMG i can believe im typing this i have no life
