i will also never forget.. every time I see the images of the 9/11 attack i'm reminded of our enemies and the threat they pose. As long as we keep the 9/11 attack fresh in our minds the more vigilant we will be.

On 9/11/01, my dad was on his way to work down the street from the towers but was running late, and had the cab turn around when the driver said he thought there were some sort of fires occurring in one of the towers. He has a lot of health issues and there is no way he'd have been able to run with the crowds if he came to work earlier.
My sister in law was literally walking into her job at the Pentagon right when the plane crashed, saw a ton of people storming through security and running out of the building, so without knowing what was happening she just turned around and followed.
I was actually originally booked on a Dulles to SF flight scheduled for that morning, but at the last minute I decided to stay in SF and cancel my trip back east, as I'd just returned from NY and was feeling burned-out.
So all things considered, the fact that no one in my family was hurt is something I find pretty miraculous; I only wish every family could say the same thing about that day. No one could get in touch with anyone else for half the day and I remember feeling so helpless, and such an intense sense of panic. It may be different for others, especially for some of those (not all) living out west, but for me on that day it all hit pretty close to home.
