while I dont agree with slvrsubwgn's statement, I think what he might be talking about is the patriotism is creates that lasts for about a week and then quickly fades. I would much rather see year long rememberence of this day rather than a week of "oh my god 9/11 happened" and have it quickly go away. Tht being said, while it was a extremely tragic day in our recent history, I'm not saying we should mourn 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

As for ldivinag's comment, I agree that it is along the same lines as Pearl Harbor and should not overshadow other tragedies in our nation's and world's history.

Thanks for attempting to interpret, but that is a far cry from what I meant. I would rather not hear about it at all. This so-called 9/11 tragedy did not invoke patriotism, it just gave the federal government an excuse to invade the middle east and made it so the people were enraged enough to back them up. That's not patriotism. There's nothing patriotic about two towers collapsing, from what looked like pyrotechnics, rather than two airplanes making them collapse. There's nothing patriotic about hanging a flag outside your window. Anyone can do that. 9/11 is not a patriotic day. It was a day 5 years ago that 2 tower went down, possibly by our own government, killing their own people. What's so patriotic about that? They called it 9/11/01 for a reason. It's not 9/11/06, or 9/11/07, etc.

What, you mean it was along the same lines like the federal government new very well what was happening, or like they didn't do anything about, or the fact that they covered it up for years after?

wow....ok then. as for the second part of what you quoted, I meant the amount of focus it should be given.

as far as patriotsim...whether or not you get any feeling from seeing flags or the buildings fall doesnt change the fact that your fellow citizens died. If you have no compasion for those who lost their lives (and Im talking about on 9/11 itself, ot in the war following) then you sir, are the exact type of person that is taking the United out of the United Sates. I agree that it is sad that people hung flags for a month or so after and then seemed to just move on, but I dont think your statements speak any better of yourself

Yeah, the government's out to kill random people. That's how they make all their money you know. You're actually not allowed to be reelected into office until you frame a terrorist attack. So they can fund their unorganized war to unsuccessfully try and take over the world's oil supply.

Do you believe every conspiracy you hear, or just the ones that make lame internet videos?

Ofcourse it doesn't make a diff whether I have deep feelings 5 years later. They died, end of story. Wouldn't you be enraged if you knew that your own government, the one you uphold, inflicted this upon them? Are you blinding your eyes to these facts, maybe because you wish not to think about it?

My point in the above statement is that patriotism goes a heck of a lot deeper than most people realize. You can't pull patriotism from 9/11.

You think I'm taking the United out of the United States? Did you ever take the time to think that maybe that's how this Republic was set up as and intended to be? From the very little reading I've done, it's better that we are united, not United. But that's a whole 'nother topc.

If the president can't keep a ******* or an office robbery a secret what makes you think they could keep a conspiracy if it was the same level as 9/11. Now, its no secret the US has funded Bin Laden, as well as invaded many Muslim nations and im sure, indirectly, the US is partly responsible for the attacks on its own country by terrorists. But to think the US knowingly demolished the twin towers is retarded.

Nope, I use my brain. And I don't fall for lame conspiracy scare tatics either. "Ooooh, the government is out to get you.... ooooh be scared!!!"

Careful, the government might be watching your posts and use you as a scapegoat so they can wage a secret war in Argentina! Someday the hippies might realize that our government couldn't organize a BBQ and stop beleiving their own BS stories that they made up themselves to tell the other hippies.

.... or am I just saying what the government wants me to say because they put mind control devices in my toothpaste during bootcamp?

I don't like our govt. any more than the next person, but they aren't coherent enough to do most of the things the conspiracy theorist come up with.

And to think they knew about the Pearl Harbor bombings is any less retarded? And how long did they keep their knowledge a secret?
