So I get my car smogged, and then I realize after goin down to the damn district court that he checked "no" under all the fix its. Which means I can't even get it signed off and pay it off for $10 bux each. Which means he wants me to pay some huge fine, or take it to court. And I'm takin' it to court. What a load of bull crap.

umm.. a smog ticket doesn't mean you have to get to car smogged, it means you have to goto the state ref, they're the only ones that can sign it off.

okay... enough whining here.
1. i personally know a guy who works for fremont PD. i'll see if he knows anything.
2. you know your car had illegal stuff. cops know you have illegal stuff. live with the consequences.
3. if anyone want to check their exhaust noise levels, lemme know, i have a cheapie SPL meter. not much, but a start.
4. what hours and location does this guy work? other than missing a front plate (which i will put on ASAP), my car is stock, besides a 20% legal tints on the rear windows, behind driver.
plus, i dont look like a young 20'ish driver so let see what kind of stuff he wants to do.
yes, it does sound like asian compact cars are being "profiled" and IIRC, fremont PD doesnt do that.
if that is the case with this certain officer, then i'll see about getting some things change.
i may need to start carrying my SPL meter with me in my STi. after all, someome said he was stopped with the stock exhaust.
damn... i tried to go to SAE.org and grab J1169, the testing procedures. they want $47 for it...
EDIT: oh wait... here's a pic showing an SPL setup:

actually, there was a law suit a few years ago regarding "profiling" and it was aimed at fremont PD. Rosette has been known to profile the car/people he pulls over, because there was another law suit over that...

The problem with 'profiling' is that minorities can only complain about it if they weren't doing anything illegal. Except for Tommah. They only care that he's asian, the lack of cats doesn't matter.

Anyway, I have an idea.
Everyone should print out some of the codes and sections on CHP Laws.
When he pulls you over for something and starts to do something wrong. Just refer to the code.
Example: "Excuse me officer, according to CA CODE Blah Blah Blah."
Here is something else to think about...
What race is the officer?
If he is not asian and if you could show that the majority of drivers that he pulls over are asian and show that the tickets single out very low-end type infractions (ie. noise, tint, etc.) you could bring a class action lawsuit against him, the police force, and state of california.
Just get the docs together and be able to show a lawyer a patern of singling out asians for minor infractions...you got a case....
I am sure that you could find a lawyer to work the case pro-bono just for the visibility.
Just the threat of a class action suite would get the fremont police to drop this guy like a hot potatoe.

Follow-up
I just spoke with my friend who is a cop on the Penisula. She made it VERY CLEAR - IT IS ILLEGAL TO PROFILE PEOPLE! She said that the force is so scared of legal back lashing that they repremand cops for profiling. The police can not hande the legal costs, exposure, and bad press in any profiling issues.
She said that they do profile certain vechicles for hazards and emmissions and the sort.
However, she further stated that the police have been warned that they must tread very lightly when profiling cars, because it can be a very fine line between profiling cars and profiling people.
She mentioned that some officers look for an excuse to pull over El Caminos - however, that it is a small line between profiling El Caminos and Hispanics. Officers have been warned.
She said that so far the community has not gotten together to make this connection, but it is only a matter of time.
As I have previously stated - if you could ban together the asian community that have been pulled over for minor car infractions by one non-asian officer and make a class action suite, it would cause a sh*t storm.
I mentioned this to her, and she said if he was at her station and a class action profiling issue came up. The would publicly apology, repremand him, and distantance themselves as far away from him as possible. He would no longer be an officer.
A police force worst nightmare is a racial profiling threat. The only thing worst is getting caught on video beating up a minority person. (i.e. Rodney King)
A very interesting point she made was that the police force relys more and more on the local economy and taxes to sustain it, since the state has been cutting funds to the local police force. There has been lots of presure on the force to make the local populance happy with there ability to do their job. Any public backlashing could mean budget cuts due to the fact they rely on local taxes.
The last thing her station needs is some jerkoff harrassing people for no reason and if he is singling out a race (by profiling cars) it could bring some serious issues to the police force.
I think you guys have more power then you think.
Get together.
Get copies of all the tickets.
Show a pattern.
Have a lawyer submit a letter to the police force, city government, and mayor about this profiling issue before you bring a class action suite or go public.
Your officer problem will be solved very quickly.

It was during the street racing crack downs. They were organizing huge busts and pulling people over left and right. I nearly filed a harassment case and this kid I met at a church deal nearly did at all. He got a ticket for driving too slow in a residential......he was looking for an address. On top of the ticket in big bold letters the officer had written "STREET RACER" so that he would get no brakes in court.
of course he was a young asian cat in a civic that was fixed up with all C.A.R.B. approved AEM parts.
Oh and who was it that graduated from mission in 95? My buddy Jason is the reason they had to change to the "Peaks" haaaaa. The mission Peaks....funny.

I went to MSJ from 94-98, I remember the Warrior symbol was going through a change and we had to pick from a bunch of diff. symbols most notably the Bell(Mission Bells). Okay enough OT......
Anyways, I was pulled over by rosette 2 times my Junior year and once my senior year. You name it, I got busted for it.....he even accused me of stealing my own car! I'll look for my old tickets, I think my parents filed them away somewhere in their house.
