Help Advise Windshield Cracked

so a rock hit my windshield on 101 the otherday and the chip is slowly spiderwebbing its way across the windshield.

I called my insurance, I have a $100 deductable on glass. but when I asked if my premium would go up for making a claim I got a lot of "we can not tell you until it is time for you to renew"

I have some connections as I used to sell cars around here, and can probably get it done, cash, for under 200.

what do you guys think? will my premium go up? I have no tickets and no accidents, this would be my first claim.

I have had windshields done in the past and my insurance never went up. If you can get glass cheap and have it put in for 200 i wouldnt put it on my insurance.

Gibz,

Thanks, Im glad to know it probably wont go up. If my deductable is 100, and it wont go up, why should I pay more? just curious why the advise to avoid the insurance company.

Thank you

The last part of what i said was because you said "I have some connections as I used to sell cars around here, and can probably get it done, cash, for under 200."

Was just saying if you didnt want to go through insurance cus you are worried paying 200 is pretty good deal.

Yeah, I'd just pay the $200. That's what I've done for the last three that I've had replaced. There's a thread floating around about an installer here somewhere.
