Cracked windshield need help!
Hey can anybody out there recommend a good windshield repair company that has good glass? Not sure if factory glass is best? Also I would like a place that will come to install the glass...thanks!
call your insurance company. a lot of time they have special deals and shops to help you out and covers a good portion of the bill. Won't jack up your rate because it's none fault. Good luck!

I just got my windshield replaced over the weekend. My deductable with Farmer's was $100, the place that replaced the glass covers up to $100...so, it was free. ACME glass in Dublin, they were 3 hours late, but it was free...wasn't too upset. Let me know if you need their phone number.

ratrace- my deductible is 250 =( but i was wondering if the glass that acme used was good quality? is factory glass better? thanks!
Generally speaking the OEM glass is best. I just finished going round and round with my insurance company today about a windshield for my 4-Runner. Here is the deal as I know it.
For a windshield to be "Legal" in the US it must meet DOT specs for clarity and strength and what ever. Most OEM companies (Honda, Subaru, Lexus, Etc.) have stricter guidlines for their windshields as far as glass color and clarity. My factory windshield on mr WRX doesn't get wavy as it curves on the outside edges I have seen cheap replacement windshields that do. Infact a budy has a new Saturn that I cant stand riding in because the windshield is so distorted and it's factory. Most insurance companies dont like using OEM glass because it can cost 3 to 4 times as much as a windshield that only meets DOT specs and not OEM. The DOT allows alot of distortion but a good car company wont. Request OEM glass and when they say know find someone who will say yes. I just got the message today the AAA has approved my request for OEM glass and I only had to Biitch at 4 people.
Good Luck

I was a little worried about not getting an OEM glass, but I commute on 880 everyday and I get rocks hitting my windshield all the time. I checked out the glass after they were done and didn't see any distortions...honestly, I couldn't tell the difference between the OEM and the replaced glass. Not sure about leaks yet, I'll have to check this weekend. I'm sure factory glass is always better if you can get it. Anyhow, good luck...here's the number of ACME Auto Glass if you need it (925) 274-1733 or (888) 277-1666.
