Basically its a test of how well you can drive and know your racing lines. Its tough but fun and at the same time frustrating. I have yet to try the Skyline race.

Yea it seems if the car is up to the specs listed, it should be able to pass these other cars. I was having a hard time with it. I'm using the '09 Spec V. I feel like maybe it's a little too heavy still. Might go pick up an R34 and mod that and try again. The focus race at Madrid is stupid as well in Bonus rd #2. I was the same distance away from the first place car the entire race. Even though I finished in 3rd, I was no where near able to catch the first place car. Never once did I close the gap. It was crazy. But you get a ton of money for completing the races no matter what position you get cause you get the money for all the positions you passed. The Nascar one has a payout of 1 million and some 100,000 experience points. Pretty good even if you don't finish in first.

The main trick is to get the adjustable tranny so that you can stay in the powerband. The other trick, is to get a good setup that lets you drive the **** out of the car. ALso, braking balance is HUGE in this game if you want to get past the AI drivers.

I recommend checking out the GT Planet GT5 tuning forums...

For the skyline race, do not waste your time with anything but the 09 V Spec GTR.

I watched the replay and checked the live timing monitor and watched the lap times that were getting put down. The lead car was putting in lap times in the 1:04 range. A middle pack car, possibly 5th, was also putting down 1:04's. But most others were in the range of 1:07. So if you can put down consistent lap times of 1:04 you should be able to go up in position. Not first, but higher than 9th. I'm not consistent enough right now. Even then I got the trophy for human time clock or something like that for turning in a 1:05:910 and 1:05:895 or something similar. So close in times you get a PS3 trophy for it.

Really? You can't get the weight down to the specs listed. And man, that car has serious lift off oversteer and power on understeer.

I really hate the Mustang race, that car is a pig!!

I guess I should look at weight. I'll try that. Thanks.

Yea I get the car to the horsepower limit and weight limit, then usually do full suspension, full transmission and the clutch and flywheel as well.

I did a grip of work to it and... I still can't get any closer than 30ish seconds off the lead car. It's a waste of time with a controller I think.

Someone buy me a wheel. KPLZTHKS.

Yeah, I think that's the disadvantage of using a controller. It's a good challenge but at some point you just say "forget it".

Which I did. At a certain point it's like stabbing yourself in the crotch over and over again with a red-hot sewing needle. It might seem like a good idea when you're hammered but as you sober up you question your original intentions.

Ok, that might not be a good metaphor, but I'm sticking with it.

I'm using a wheel and still am not doing much better. At one point I thought I was do so horribly that I would go back to the controller and realized how much worse it is with the controller. haha

Ya weight does not matter to me much when the car handles so well. AFTER a proper setup that is I won by 20+ seconds.

Right now I am trying to gold all of the "Grand Tour" events. Man that Tuscana Lambo vs Ferrari race is TOUGH!!

Ok, I think I found a good car. I won the Viper ACR and modded it to over 900hp. Tried it briefly on B Spec Like the Wind. He stayed with the pack, catches up on straights, but the problem is hooking up with the track. By lap 8 he had to pit as tires were gone. lol!
I'll try to play around with things and try it on A Spec.
Did the challenge with the Dodge Challenger R/T. Placed 5th on my first try. Need to adjust my gearing as I was topping out at 115 on the Indy straight and I was losing time there.
