Worked for me, played online about 2 hours ago
I updated the ps3, then went to the Sign In option, then it old me I need to change the password..then after I changed it, everything worked fine

For the ones having trouble changing their password and signing on, did you ever buy anything from the Playstation Store? I remember reading something about the password change through the PS3 will only work if you've purchased from the Store. If you haven't then they'll email you something to change your password. Other than that, it should be working just fine as long as you update. I played the other day for an hour or so and a couple hours last night with no issues. Played with other people too.
