Got shot at friday night while driving to point reyes I think...?
If there is a hole on one side and not on the on other, then doesn't that mean that the bullet would still be in the car? The police can use that to identify the gun if they catch this guy.
Sorry about the confusion, there isn't a hole which makes me think it wasn't shot. It is a very deep impression. I couldn't get good pics, which is kinda annoying (again it was dark). The last one is supposed to give an idea of size, tho its so terrible... Hopefully that cleared up any confusion?

Wow those must be the worst pictures ever.
Ever think that someone was trying to throw/shoot something at the truck and you took it instead? It looks like it wasn't a perpendicular hit, so maybe the guy infront of him was shooting at hmi... to get him to stop flashing his brights.

yea, except its soooo round, and since we were going 50 and it went nearly straight in (as in not angling much towards the back) it would seem like it had to be going hella fast. But it could've been something else such as a small rock, or piece of metal, or something lying on the roadway. The more I think about it tho, the less I think its a bullet. It seems like any bullet, would've easily punched all the way through, and if the initial hypothesis is right, that it hit right at the support bar, it seems like it would've done more somehow. It was probably just a coincidence he flashed his lights, and then hit a bit of degree, and it makes sense since he had no reason to be mad at us anyway. Probably just overreacting
O yea, and it was probably just rebar lying on the road
So, if it were your car, how would you try to fix/hide it? Would you go to a body shop and have them bondo or whatever over it? would that be hella obvious since the paint mightn't match? Would you try to do it yourself? How much do you think a body shop would charge? Or would you just leave it (that's what my dad's leaning towards, but its ugly, and the paints come off (at least down to primer, and that looks a little scratched, so we're not sure it won't rust)? Thanks

Have it PDR'ed (Paintless Dent Repair), then touch up the panel. Shouldn't be more than a couple hundred bucks to fix.

Pay the deductible if any and have it fixed under comprehensive since it was flying debris. No fault anyway. It will probably rust if not taken care of since it is bare metal.
You say it was a "truckish" thing? I bet you that they had a blow out (you said you heard a big bang) and a piece of their belt or something just flew out and hit your car. Trust me, a big tire blew out next to me a few years ago while my mother was driving and it scared the s**t out of her. (well, in the cae it was a big rig and it was the inside tire so the outside protected us from debris.) So I wouldn't be suprised if it was just bad timing and the thing blew next to you or that their tire was already blown and they were flashing so they could get over? and in the process a piece of tire or belt from there tire flew out and hit your car so hard it made the bang?
