Back when SpeedRing was open and had their all-your-drive for $55, I called in sick to work and got in like 240 laps. :RockOn - not mine: I think I just called in and said I wasn't feeling well. I was usually a pretty good worker so they had no reason not to believe me. Only problem was my leg couldn't handle all the vibrations through the kart. The skin on my right shin went partially numb for about 2 months.

I have so many chroic problems. Ear, nose, throat, in the early spring. Back problems, the crippling kind, I have to take sick days from time to time. We have such a skeleton crew that if someone gets sick I prefer they stay home. Passing it along just plain sucks. Then everyone gets it. Calling in sick because you are sick of working, is BS. Save those sick days. In the event you get hurt, need surgury or whatever, you're gonna wish you had them.

I don't believe in calling in sick if I'm not sick. If I don't show up for work my work just sits there until I touch them. My coworkers have different assignments than I do. However, my job pays me too well for me to not come into work. I think to myself "is playing hooky from work worth this much money or can I just wait to have fun on my weekends?" The money factor wins. And, when I'm sick I normally just work remotely from home because even when my work is stressful, just thinking about all the work that is piling up on my desk while I'm away is more stressful than anything else. It's harder to play catch-up than to just stay on top of things.

Not sure if its 'ethic' that the debate is about, but it sure does sound like there are two kinds in this thread: workaholics and lackadaisicals. If you are not sick and want to take a day off, no need to make excuses (lies) just be straight up, why not? Usually taking time off is done in preparation isn't it?
