idk about you but I STRESS when I call in sick and I am not.
I am the only IT resource for a company of 60 users. It is hard to take a vacation let alone a sick day. I like being needed
I do however do call in "sick" about twice a year. I seem to always be in Hayward on that day. Hmmm?

I hadn't used sick time in over four years before I broke my leg, then I took 5 weeks off
. When I called in I just told my boss the truth. Not sick, not calling in.

My companies "sick" policy is you have 9 days per year for "personal leave" -use them when you're sick when you need a couple days off to get your sock on straight, whatever.
If anything's left at the end of the year you can either cash out or convert to vacation.
pretty sweet deal if you ask me

So if you are contagious the rest of my team can damn well go down with you?

I will not call in sick just because I don't want to work or didn't plan a vacation day.
If I am truly sick, I will call in but I will still handle my issues from home so that it does not impact the rest of my team.
I'm all for calling in sick when you need to stay away from everyone and not infect them, but I do not like the mentality of "I don't want to work today so Ill just call in sick"
This thread should have different sections...
1. Career/Professionals
2. Students w/Part-Time Jobs
For 1. I agree no calling in for the hell of it... but you also get designated days you can have off a year with a profession.
For 2. I garuntee we call out more than group 1, but that's normal, we have school and jobs... we don't get to leave work at the office
plus we are young, so what the hell, I don't take my job super serious because its not.
