going to tahoe.. kumho MX + chains.. am i ok?

Last weekend was insane. I was in the worst of the worst for a long time.....got stuck one day on unplowed rd, got stuck @kirkwood (roads closed not stuck stuck). I didnt put my snows on, but i wouldn't have gone without m+s

With all due respect, I think you are wrong. I drove the first season I had my car on the stockers, and while not great, I was able to drive through a heavy snowstorm with 6-9 inches of fresh on the roads. There are better tires, but the RE92's are loads better than summer tires. Respect the limits, carry chains, a shovel and some warm dry gear that is accessible and the RE92's are a perfectly capable tire for any weather in which the roads are open.

UPDATED: thread back from the dead! i rented a forrester. couldn't be bothered to purchase snow tires.. going to start driving in a few minutes
