QFT.
He said he reported it to the store nad left his number for them to call if someone came asking for it. He also said that he tried to look at the phone to see if he could figure out who's it was.

I didnt know that the AT&T store could track down someone based on their phone, and I bet this guy didnt either.

Whether or not its wrong to keep something of value that is found, is debateable. Its not illegal, and its morally wrong to only some of you. He didnt steal a phone, so dont act like he did. He may have been able to track the person down if he did some sleuthing, but I think most people and police officers would agree that it is his after an (debatably) honest, good faith effort.

btw i appreciates comments like these. at least you are speaking with manners and expressing from you point of view. i found a pattern from reading it. all the people who is flaming and bashing, doesnt say much, just say im pathetic and im a dick are VIP members..... come on guys. set a good example
I got my VIP membership by being a beneficial member on this forum. I think that actually gives my calling you a dick MORE credibility.

I took that as more of an attempt to save face since in the original post it he seemed to think the thought of returning the phone was ludicrous.

In your opinion, I guess. I think he is acting like a normal, thoughtful person. Not someone who goes out of his way to return lost property, but it seems like he made a good faith effort. What should he have done? File a missing persons report on the owner? Spend hours on teh phone with Apple tracking down the owner? Spend an hour at the AT&T store trying to explain the story to 5 different people to track down the owner?

VRT MBasile, I think youre being a dick. Dick.

if you know who what type of person you are and your friends as well, why do you need to defend yourself? if you can careless, why do you even bother writing so much?

you don't have to speak it for her, because you don't know her =] im speaking for my self.
you are speaking for her. you are assuming she gave up her phone.

i did my part to a certain level, i'm not an angel so im not going to go above and beyond to find that person and hand it back to her in one piece. i waited for her, and she chose to give it up. i don't feel guilty for taking it at all =]
i'm by no means a Saint. i was at Lowes the other day and i knew the cashier forgot to ring something up. i didn't say a word and just walked out not paying for one item.

IMO, your part would have just returned the phone to the store the moment you found it.

thanks. like i said, that did not pop in my mind because i just simply thought that she would call me and look for her phone.

i defend my self is because i just wanted to get the story straight. with no misunderstanding, and also because i enjoy posting, don't have anything to do right now. i don't mind sharing idea with people who can talk normally.

It's not an assumption, look at his very first post. What message do you get from that? "Returning it is a preposterous idea" is what I got from that.

I believe what you say, it's the ideology behind the words that is ****ed. I've made many valid points. Calling you out for being a dick is that same as saying that you are not a beneficial member of society, which I have also said. I don't *****foot around. If you are a dick, and present the situation that shows your dickness, I'll call you out for being a dick.

The message I got from your posts is that you are too lazy to do anything about returning the phone to AT&T. If you are going to say/do that, that is a dick move. Don't complain when people call you on being a dick.

on my first post, i just wanted to give a brief story about what happened, because i don't want people like you start talking shi* but i guess it didn't work.

im too lazy or not is NONE of you business. your post is totally OT. you shouldn't even post that noob. haha i guess thats where you get your 20k post from. posting OT stuff everywhere.

get to the point. you shouldn't even post here if you not going to answer the question to my OP.

but seriously dude, just stop trying to calling me a dick or w/e. it really doesn't make you sound any better lol seriously. im trying to help you save some face here. don't want to make you look bad as a proud 20k post VIP member on here. don't want other people to laugh at us i-clubbers making post counts by calling people names.

What if the phone was on silent for some reason?

Also, you're comparison of finding $20 is not the same as a $600 iphone. What would you do if you found $600? I'm assuming you wouldn't return that either.

Everyone who is judging you should rightfully do so. You stole something that was not yours. Just because the owner was not near the phone doesn't justify you stealing it.

Hope karma bites you right in the ***.
